Session 33 Report

General Summary

(Thanks to Narel for providing the summary)
The adventurers continued their path-cleaning-quest through the crystal caverns when they stumbled upon some strange webbing – phase spider webbing. They fireboltingly advanced through them when they unsurprisingly got surprised by 3 fully grown spider mommas. While firebolt appeared as only a temporary solution to the webbing, a fireball proved to be a permanent one against at least 2 of the spiders. The third one subsequently noped into the ether, never to be seen again.
Nearby the adventurers stumbled across a swale, filled with nearly half a dozen oval shaped 1 pound heavy thingamachigs encased in even more webbings, which is a convoluted way of saying “5 spider eggs”. Realizing their worth, the party naturally looted the shit out of them.
Proceeding south, there was also a small camp of frightened kobolds, who had been half-decimated by the formerly found and fireballed deep-folk. Which is not as much ironic as incidental, yet funny either way. The adventurers convinced the kobolds that no harm would come to them if they just let the caravan take its course through “their” cave. In no position to haggle, the kobolds gracefully accepted and “guarded” the party while they explored the uneventful rest of the cavern.
After some mysterious rumbling and crystal-light-draining something, the party moved up to the glacier.
Faithful Archimedes scouted ahead, quickly spotting intimidating piles of snow, a donkey and even a chest. Another small earthquake pulls the adventurers from their feet, throwing them in random directions, threatening a quick slide down into a pit of nasty icy stalagmites. Cue the foreshadowing sounds!
The party cluelessly chose one of the piles first, which turned out to be an insectoid – and non-snakey - remorhaz, that melt-burrowed to them, hurdling Krum down into the frozen spike trap of a pit, while spraying Uthal with hot and unsexy liquids whenever he dared to cut its ice blue chitin. Luckily the monster fell quickly and Alvir caught its soul in yet another gem.
Mindfully not resting, the party approaches 5 heaps of snow, which turned into a pack of dashing winter wolves. Thinking quickly Uthal bound the beasts in a defile, minimizing the damage they could deal to the party - who cleverly positioned in a way to still get hit by their frozen breaths. After 4 of the wolves fell to the hands of the adventurers, the last surviving beast suddenly spoke and tried to bargain, which the barbarian answered with chopping off the head of one of his former friends. The beast rushed away, leaving the adventurers to skin themselves two perfectly fine pelts. Heavy, but surely useful… if they would just fit into the bag of holding!
Wounded and exhausted (figuratively) the party turned back to their caravan to rest, when 2 wraiths ambuscaded them on their way back. Krum, however, quickly turned them, saving the party the troubles of probably dying a little. During their rest at the camp, the adventurers heard screams from the caverns, which turned out to possibly had been the now finally fully decimated kobolds. Or possibly from a PTSDd Frost Giant called Frenny, who apparently just had a not particularly enjoyable encounter with an Ice devil. Narel’s heal didn’t affect him much other than provoking an earnest compliment.
Dreading what destiny had in store for them, the party marched on.
