Session 32 Report

General Summary

After fighting their way through a horde of Yetis in the Everfrost Caverns, the party had to make a decision. Would they choose the path to the North, entering Everfrost Glacier after a longer track through the mountains and risk being attacked outside, but have an easier, but longer path through the Glacier? Would they choose the way in the middle, fighting against some dangerous creatures and having to navigate their way over icy paths? Or would they choose the south, entering the Glacier through the Crystal Caverns, a way that would probably prove more arduous and dangerous, but possibly containing more ways to make money?   After entering the Crystal Caverns the group was ambushed by Ankhegs, which they dealt with rather easily.   Alvir captured the soul of one of these creatures in a gem. They found a buried bag with some gems and money in the next cavern and pushed forward due North-West, where they found Deep-Folk, degenerated humanoids that usually live underneath the Earth in the Deep Dark, having been afflicted with the Curse of the Deep. The party chose the less diplomatic way (Fireball) of dealing with these deranged people. In an adjacent cavern, the party found a landslide, with a band of unlucky adventurers or soldiers beneath. The spirits of these failed warriors still lingered, but Narel was able to appease them with a song about their courage, and the spirits pointed them to the remains of their fallen priest comrade, where they found multiple scrolls and a magic Staff, amongst other things.   Further north, the party finally encountered another group of Deep Folk, lead by an Undead Warlock. The fight was difficult, but doable, and the group squashed their opposition and destroyed the Warlock.   One of the Deep Folk escaped though, and met their presumed death in a cavern southeast. In the cavern where the battle was fought, the party found a bit of Pinkish ice, much like they had seen beneath the Ice Caverns North of Noreach. After Krum failed to dispel the magic, but saw a visage of Avior in his failed attempts, Narel cast a spell of Divination to contact a divine being and ask them about this Frost Barrier.   Avior's spirit answered that only those with the Power of the Flame of the North would be able to pass through the barrier. The group knew that the Flame of the North was hidden in a shrine in the Cargue.   Due south to their current location they also found a cave with a trapped and locked chest containing the Warlock's loot, a destroyed camp of small Humanoid creatures, and a Ramp that would lead them into the Glacier. However, they had not explored the Crystal Caverns yet, and wanted to know what happend to the escaped Deep Folk person in the east. The tracks lead them Southeast, where they found etheral whisps of Spider Web, a sure sign of Phase Spiders...
