Session 36: Ghosts in the Bank Report
General Summary
In the hidden passageway the spectral figures of the Slaugh would advance, as the jingling bells of the Redcaps echoed as they materialized to rush at the Scales. Indalell and Ayrien would push north to engage a Redcap wielding its scythe. Ayriens magic empowered her weapon as she marked the Redcap as her prey, Indalells blades cutting into the murderous gnome like creature. Ismaril moved to cover the West her psionic powers assaulting the mind of another redcap. Adalon readied his own scythe for the Slaugh that was fast approaching. Cutting into the undead fae before it would feint and its razor sharp claws would rend armor and flesh of the Noble Adalon. Vaera the companion of Ayrien would snarl and hiss as the low buzzing it had heard before grew louder. Bursting form a painting upon the wall a swarm of furious pixies of the Autumn court would flood the hall. Their tiny weapons and savage attack cared not for friend of foe as they savaged Redcap and Scale alike. Longwei would move to support Adalon, taking his Dragonstance and delivering heavy kicks into the fae spirit while A'lar would inspire the scales to push to greater heights and fight on. Further down the halls another Slaugh would emerge, taking an ethereal form it would pass thru the walls and the Scales of Fate would now find themselves surrounded in the small crossroads of a hallway. Ayrien and Indalell would disperse the first swarm of Pixies, though a second would be rushing down the hall towards them, the Drakania members of the scales finding themselves surrounded would reach deep inside of themselves to summon up the powerful breath weapons of their draconic ancestry. Ismarils Crystalline shards creating a cone of shimmering lights and shards of force while the Amethyst Drakania spitting explosive bile would rock the narrow hallways dispersing pixie, slaying Redcap, and even the Slough were now reeling. Adalon was pressed into a corner the Slough's desperatly trying to tear his soul from its body with razor sharp claws. Surviving the attack, the Scales would dispatch the undead fae, and A'lar would begin to dispense healing potions from his bag of holding.
The Scales having dispatched the Autumnal spirits were ready for the Temples defenders to arrive next, but they never came. Carefully beginning to explore the passage ways they would find another hidden door and emerge back into the main halls of the monastery. Ismaril and A'lar would press onward down a hall passed several locked doors, while Indalell went to work upon the locks. The first door clicked open to reveal the bed chamber of the Paladin of Roulons quarters, where he lay in an unnatural sleep. The next door once unlocked would reveal the Kobold High Priest, also in an unnatural sleep. Ismaril and A'lar would have found a great bath chamber for the temple, "You know I expected something more opulent." Ismaril would remark given the nature of god of Commerce. A'lar would snort, "my personal bath is finer then this." Returning to the others, Ismaril would investigate the slumbering patriarch of the Temple Bank. As her eyes turned to onyx, reaching into his mind, "He is trapped in his dreams....taken somewhere else, perhaps even to another plane." Adalon would frown, "Perhaps that explains the strange Aura of the temples consecration."
The Scales would push on thru the Monastery finding their way to the Temple proper. Its golden pillars shone even in the dim light provided by few torches. Fonts filled with golden coins, offerings, and merchants scales sat prominently upon a dais at the temples center. Curiously a large silver mirror was hung in front of the main doors. As A'lar stepped before it to examine this curious decor item, the reflection of the temple within was not familiar to him. Golden pillars were instead wrapped in vines of leaves made of rich reds and golds. The marble floor was instead that of a forest in deep autumn, a tapestry of fallen leaves of rich reds and browns, and more redcaps and slough were moving closer to him in the mirror. The Scales would turn, finding more Autumnal spirits coalescing from the ether, manifest upon the material plane.
