Epilogue: Letter Collection Report

General Summary

A great many notes passed across the continent during this tumultuous period. This is a simple back-to-back collection of those notes. A certain amount of context will be lost with them out of place, but the manners of recording were worse in those previous years.

Cesstecia letter - delivered by man named Medus, who is wounded and dirty. He tells Ballisar that Syrgus is hunting Dramana and that some thugs attacked him within the city.

Ballisar Ekarin, Tressar Dramana

If this message finds itself in your hands, then your man has been successful.

The situation within Illidost was thus far been silent. No force yet comes to assail it since the incursion of the Vallisians. In this moment of peace, Lytheron and myself have begun writing, receiving, and replying to letters- there have been many. Enclosed are articles of pertinent information which may assist with your invaluable efforts to gather support.

Foremost, word has arrived to us from Andulon. A letter sent shortly after the first appearance of the False Son tells that the region is divided and embattled. Andost's lord, Perthyon Berus, was an old ally of my father, and thus held true once news arrived from Varikon. His daughter Eyas, however, is a known zealot and associate of the Dretlaeus. She has turned against him and seeks to bend that place to Syrgus. With winter close, it is uncertain what aid can be offered.

Second, negotiations have begun with the Hedron of Demrazand to create a stable border across the river Anon. Lytheron is willing to use force to close that opening if necessary.

Third, letter has been sent to the mercenary lords of Elebryn, seeking their support or hiring. If that endeavor is successful, they may be useful come spring.

Fourth, Lytheron was interested in the progress of your personal mission. He assured me that you would know what that means.

If you are able, send letter with what information you have gathered. Our scouts have secured the nearby countryside, but their sight is limited. How are the middle lands of Astoria? Who is loyal and who is not? Have you been successful in gaining allies? What word do you have on the movements and activities of the False Son? Say everything and leave nothing out.

Entrust the letter to the courier. He is Dramana and trustworthy. Allow no other to see it.

At this time you are our preeminent agent in the field. Our success and the survival of Astoria depends upon your success. I remember the assurances you gave when we spoke, and I am certain that you will bring light to Euboa's temple in this black time.

Tressonara Cesstecia I Mitras

Ballisar's reply – sent with Pydanus Thosas
Cyntark Lytheron,
Things in middle astoria are in somewhat of turmoil, SYrgius sends men throughout the countryside recruiting villagers to his cause to join up, this is to be expected as garnering the support of the people is an important step in underming our just cause, This letter coming to you from your cousin, and hopefully the seal is in tact.
The Situation in tharsis is tense as we were forced to negotiate with Rorid Elmore, a leader of a so called Greywall Militia that has been left to grow throughout the years to control 2/3's of tharsis, unfortunately the deal that was struck was in his favor as the situation we found ourselves in within the city were unfavorable to negotiating in our favor. needless to say a supply lane shall be opened between tharsis and illidost seeing that grain gets to your troops.
On a more important note, our foe Syrgius is mobilizing, we have learened that he is gathering his forces around the capital, and I belive that he is going to send them towards Andulon and attempt to take out so he is not caught betweem our forces and Andulons, though this might present us with an oppertunity to be able to strike against him, my reasons for thinking he may be on his way to andulon are the fact that the garrison of Vioden was spotted heading northeast. I believe that Vioden has turned similar to Varikon, Old Ancator was also lost to fanatics, but the garrison remains loyal, as your cousin is helping get this letter to you.
No progress hs been made on my personal mission as the time has been robbed to me by events in tharsis and dodging vallisian raiding parties, I am glad to hear that they are taken care of. We will be moving most likely towards Adrost to try and situate what is happening there and if there is anything that could be done. If I were to make a suggestion I would send men out to other villages denouncing this third son and reminding who has kept their villages safe over the years. once events in Adulon are taken care of as best they could be I will be heading south through Vestidia to Elebryn and from there the southernmost of vestidia and either take the zol'kel back to illidost or make my way p through the southern kingdoms.
Finally, I bring news, important news of a potential ally, there is a man by the Name of Orin Eddenvas who was to meet with Her highness, we ran into him in tharsis and he is an Ambassador to the King of The Lornish Kingdom in everos. He wishes to form an alliance between Astoria and Lorn and claims to be able to provide military support from Everos, we would need to get a letter from him to his kingdom and we will do our best to get that through on , I will add a copy of his letter alongside this so if you can send it to everos before us it would be helpful. I need not mention to you that the reinforcements from everos would be usefil, and I belive that if we do it right we can remove the Vallesian threat by attacking them on two sides, everosi army by way of the sea, us breakingthrough the border, this would allow us to focus on Syrgius permanently but I will leave all this to you descression Cyntark. Give my regards to Her Highness

My Lord Garlan,
I must apologize for taking so long to get back to you. By now you must have heard of the Civil War that has recently erupted from a man known as Serogis. This man might be a magical being and one that could be a threat to our nation. We could send troops to help the Astorians fight the man, or should I say being?
However, I would advise against taking any action to help the Astorians at this very moment. They consort with demons to win wars. I have been traveling with the Astorian Lord of the Dramana, Ballisar, the head of the Royal Body Guard or Inquisition if you will. He was tasked with uniting the cities under the new Empress to fight against Serogis. However, he has proven to be more selfish than not. Instead of aiding the Empress to help win the Astorian war, he decided to seek a cure for his lethal disease that may have taken years to kill him, dragging us all with him. I stayed for safety’s sake and I still do. He dragged us for months in Vestidia. His friends consort with demons. We killed one after it came out of its disguise and tried to kill me and it’s owner, a friend of Ballisar, couldn’t control it. At that point I lost all trust in the party’s leader and only seek to survive. However, it got worse.
Ballisar’s selfishness has released something known as “Sinestra.” Sinestra is a powerful and destructive demon of magic and it wants to meet with Serogis. The demon was trapped in a pillar for thousands of years and just recently has taken the body from an Everosi man without my knowing. This demon healed Ballisar with the blood of innocence. 20 or more Vestidians were executed for it. Once again, I only stay with them to survive; any sense of treachery and I would be killed. I revoke the demon. Recently, the Astorians have suffered a major defeat in battle most likely due to the absence of the Lord of the Dramana.
I suggest you warn the Last Light of this “Sinestra” embodiment especially. I would like to find a way to stop “Sinestra” and if necessary, Serogis. I will remain here without extra pay to see how far I can get with this, so I can keep you updated, and who knows: I might be able to make a few friends for us. I have yet to actually meet the new Astorian Empress.
Once again, My Lord, a thousand pardons for my tardiness. Please, have the Last Light look into “Sinestra” for Everos’s sake. There may be a cataclysmic event upon the horizon over here.
I only request two things: information on how to stop “Sinestra” and if possible, a few coins to keep me going. I have an address in the currently Serogis held city of Vericon. There is very little way to reach me unless you send an agent.
Orin Eddenvas
P.S. If there is a chance that the Empress punishes Ballisar for his sins, and somehow, the Astorians don’t need so much help in the war where we have sacrifice too many troops to win it. We could come to terms with them, which is why I remain here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Lord Garlan,
I hope all is well at home.
This message is being sent incase a previous message was lost in the hands of those who I entrusted with it. Things have changed since I last sent a letter. I am cold but well, the war has pushed me south, and my Astorian escort pushed me even further south to Vestidia. However, his ambitions lead him astray and released something called Sinestra, which we were forced slay in southern Vestidia. His soul is damned, but I need his company to survive the foreign lands. I will make sure his punishment comes swiftly. A report, of the slaying was filed with a Baronite Warship covering trade routes from southern Vestidia. I have been paying attention here and will hope to report to the mainland on the war. I will be here for as long as I can to complete my task, I will not ask for extra pay.
You must have heard by now the Syrigus, the usurper, has won a great victory and scattered the young empress to the wind. As far as my information goes, the Astorians do not have an army, and I would not want to sacrifice anymore of our troops than necessary to help the Astorians, and not fight their war for them. So right now, I am having a hard time getting political partners. I have been hearing rumors that this Syrigus is in fact a puppet of a greater power. We have also encountered magical assassins in Vestidia, which I have been told from a trustworthy source, that they also have a direct tie to Syrigus. Something is not quite right in Othos once again.
But not all is bad.
I met the former Lothrand citizens. They are living in dire conditions in a harsh woodland of Southern Vestidia, as you may already know. They survive on little, but their faith in Corgastor and their will to live is fierce. One of them, Emelia, joined our party in southern Vestidia. She showed me something I never thought I would feel again: The warmth of Corgastor’s light. I could not believe it either, and she shared it with another Corgastorian family here in Southern Vestidia. Apparently, this is very common amongst her people, they seem to have a fragment of Corgastor within them. This is something the Last Light may be interested in.
Her direct request, as ambassador for her people, was to have her homeland back which was wrongly taken. That would most likely require the same amount of force that would need to be used in Astoria, which makes me unsure of how much we could help other than to comfort them where they are, and then owe allegiance to us as we help them rebuild, or if we can help Astoria in any manageable way, they will owe us and in turn we can help our fellow Corgastorians gain new friends in this region, and then, we can have a few new allies and trade partners.
The Lothlanders thought the main land forgot about them, they were happy when I told them that I could reunite them with the mainland.
My concise answer: if we want allies on this continent to support the future of the Lornish Kingdom, we will either need to act militarily in Othos soon, or wait out this soon to be in my opinion, continental war. We would be acting in defense of our kin across the sea.
I hope I will be able to return home soon, ships are held up due to the harsh winter, and we will need to discuss this further.

Syrgus Pyrgos,
My Name is Calista Artayan. I am a noble atamani diplomat part of the Artayan Tribe camped outside Pyrogoros. To begin, I personally do not care who rules Astoria as I am only trying to find the best solution for my people. You see, we are only trying to survive as well as find a way to end the conflict some of our people have with each other. Azidael once told me it may be wise to hear the other side of the story. He was a good man and sometimes I wish he was still around.
I have been traveling talking to all my tribes who comment of some of your offer of citizenship if we were to ally with you. This may seem outdated as I have not contacted my tribe recently, but people are hesitant with becoming involved. The astorians and atamani do not have the best relationship. For decades we have been treated like the lowest people around Othos. 70 years ago, Sestesha’s grandfather slaughtered 2 of our tribes as well as diminish the other tribe’s numbers when he locked us in “work camps”. The atamani did not do anything to cause this horrendous treatment. It seemed he was afraid our movement would cause conflict. Since then, our situation has gotten worse with no apology or help dealing with the damages the Astorians caused only ridicule and racism. WWe will assist them only with guarantees to reciprocal assistance against the Demhezzar. If you personally succeed in this endeavor, I will ensure you are granted Othosar estates in fair return.
Reply with absolute haste. Remain on the continent until further orders. My subsequent orders will be attached with military personnel mustered for activity come winter's awaited end.
Corgastor's Memory,
Oselen Garlen, Ghet ast Ghetunbalastod Lornesse
when they talk to you, especially after hearing rumors about a reunited Astoria.
All we want is to share the beauty of this land with those in it peacefully. Winter is hard for us as we must do back dealing to stay at a location. All we are looking for is a place to stay where we can be safe without having to focus on useless tasks or being attacked for no reason. We do not like conflict nor do we have any intention of starting them. I am not looking for an apology from you as you did not inflict this damage to the atamani. All I am wondering is if you would be willing to help restore the relationship between Astoria and the Atamani? While also helping us obtain better safety conditions in the winter? I will be headed toward the atamani encampment in vallisia. You can send this to my tribe who will be contacting them towards the end of this month. They can get the letter to me if you do not wish to send people to Vallisia.
From,
Calista Artayan

Blackwolf,
Regardless of the current situation, if I come out of this alive I will try to help your people. I understand the situation you are in. The atamani knows what that feels like exactly. No one should live like that. I will go to one of the tribes and send word to my friend to see what he can do to help your situation. I would not want to do anything that would negatively affect you. I am sure he will have ideas that I am not thinking of. He typically does.
Please Stay Safe,
Calista

Calista Artayan,
I must thank you for your letter which I have received and thank you further for releasing the man sent back with it. I judge between the contents of your letter and your willingness to return a prisoner that you are sincere and will respond to you as such. Your knowledge of my original offer to the atamani in Pyragoros and beyond is accurate. Their response was as you suggest rather lukewarm and with your explanation such a response makes sense. The truth is that even in my own time the Atamani were mistreated and so upon my return I wished to right what I perceived to be this wrong. In my hubris however I believed I understood what they wished and that they would accept whatever offer I threw at their feet. Your letter proves my own arrogance.
The truth is that I simply wish for the Atamani to be free from the mistreatment of both the past and the present. I know understand however that although lofty goals are righteous that without understanding the wants of your people I may do more harm than good. It is therefore my most humble wish that we arrange a meeting when you believe it prudent between myself and whatever representatives your people see fit to discuss what can be done to create a better future for both of our peoples. I cannot promise an immediate end to the centuries of bigotry and hatred, but I can promise that I will stride to lead by example and deal with the Atamani honestly and equally. Hopefully by such example, given time, the attitudes of the many will change. I will do all I can to see to that. Such is my promise.
Signed,
The Third Son of Lysander
Syrgus Pyragoros

Orin Eddenvas, Mission to Astorian Tresivar
Departed for 3rd Cwealm
I have received both letters, staggered and varying greatly in content. Other sources have come forth in the meantime a corroborate the scene of chaos which grips Othos presently.
The news of this Sinestra, whose name was well known to those in Gledgast and the Amaderin Isset Ghonol, invoked terror. Lorod Vhangel insisted on travelling there himself to destroy it. An agent named Phorastor was sent to Othos in secret for that purpose. Thankfully to all, your second letter of her destruction was received with much congratulation. Strangely, Phorastor has not yet returned. Vhangel much desires news on his whereabouts.
Syrgus and these assassins are another matter. Their swift successes and enigmatic origin caused much concern between the Solhesunbast and myself. My advisors here, I warn, promote immediate action as a means of projecting our power and capitalizing on this opportunity. I am not certain. Hadrianus once made practice of intervening in unnatural Othosar affairs to much success, but circumstances are different now than centuries ago! Destroying warriors to secure victory in foreign lands is a frivolous pursuit. However, if Syrgus stands against our designs on the continent, nothing should withhold Loressod bodies from the battle. This brings about my most important demand.
I am profoundly interested with your report of Corgastorian faithful hiding within Lothrand. How many of them yet live and what do they require? Our domain may provide them with ease, given the opportunity and proper connection. This is an invaluable political tool. Given the cause of these Lothlanders, the gate is open to enforce Dhenast Aemarda upon them. I wish to intervene and annex those lands for Corgastor, bringing them under our banner. This has rich historical precedent which will not be lost on Othos. Extending our influence between Everos and Othos will position us excellently.
Ensure this latter condition at all costs. I will send warriors and supplies in whatever amounts are necessary to secure southern Othos and establish a subject state in Lothrand. If achieving this end requires colluding with Astorian factions, then negotiate carefully. We will assist them only with guarantees to reciprocal assistance against the Demhezzar. If you personally succeed in this endeavor, I will ensure you are granted Othosar estates in fair return.
Reply with absolute haste. Remain on the continent until further orders. My subsequent orders will be attached with military personnel mustered for activity come winter's awaited end.
