Session 7: The Fist of Luna Report
General Summary
The party embarks on a journey to the mountain of Torunn, home of Bill the Bear as well as the location of a newly discovered magic artifact. Bill saw a friendly face of an elder from his cave named Dulmur who was being sold into slavery by some mysterious cloaked figures. After fighting them, Belavor realized that these are darklings, a group of individuals banished to the shadows after their goddess Luna had been imprisoned in the moon during the God Wars. Recently the dwarves had uncovered an artifact that once belonged to Luna and now the darklings were raiding Torunn in order to find it. Dulmur begs that if Bill can spare the time in adventuring that he comes back and fights with them. The party is chased out of town since they murdered the darkling slave traders and are followed halfway to Torunn until they enter the Pass where Stratum no longer holds authority. They get to the mountains and see that the dwarves have created many barricades to keep anything out. Their elder Barry the Bear (Bill's father) comes out and says that the party is not allowed to go further in the pass and that they must turn around or surrender the wagon. After seeing Bill he asks why he hasn't visited and welcomes the party inside the mountain base. Bill informs them of the situation and even shows them where the artifact was discovered in the mines. In reality it is a large casm with an altar and some magical item that the darklings are searching for. Unfortunately for the dwarves, the artifact and the casm itself is protected by some sort of divine magic meaning that only a follower of Luna can open it. Barry asks that the party stands guard at a meeting with the elder of the darklings who has decided to give the dwarves an ultimatum. The party agrees and Tobius says that he will sit with Barry to talk with the darklings. The meeting begins and the elder says that she has come to give the dwarves the option to leave the mountain and forfit the artifact to her or they can be killed. Toby mocks the elder and causes her to blow a horn signaling to her army outside to release the girallon that they have brought into the caves. Barry and the party watch as the giant beast tears through the defences in the front of the cave and prepares to attack the party by charging toward them on the cave walls. In the chaos the elder hastily heads to the chasm and the party is not able to stop her before she can make it there. The party kills the other darklings as well as the girallon and are told by Barry that only Bill needs to go deal with the elder and that the rest of the party has to help the dwarves secure the mouth of the cave. Belavor helps at the front of the cave but Toby and Moses follow Bill. Moses trues to enter the chasm with Bill but is thrown by the elders telepathic powers. The elder officially transformed into the Fist of Luna and challenged Bill to a fight to break in the new abilities. Moses and Toby watched on and prepared to break the dome keeping the two of them out but doing so would allow the Fist to become more powerful. Bill told the two to let him fight him and though it was close Bill did eventually kill the fist which caused him to go into a frenzy bringing him into a vision. In the vision he saw the goddess Luna who offered to make him stronger (+2 Strength score permenantly) if he would free her from his prison. She gave him the tools he would need to and allowed him to free her but it would cause his people to have to evacuate the mountain. After leaving the vision Bill tells his father about the vision and Barry tells Bill that if he frees the goddess he will never be allowed back into Torunn. Due to this Bill denies the goddess and recieves the gift of the lion Spencer who will now travel with the party. Due to them not listening to Barry, he asks Toby and Moses to leave, blaming them for half of the dwarves being killed since they did not have the parties help in killing the darklings. The party left the cave peacefully but after leaving they noticed a group of travelers with banners holding the symbol of Ethos. After approaching the party and the cave they dropped to the ground at the feet of Moses and called him the Son of Justice.
