Session 9: Imposter of Lowry Report

General Summary

The party searches the now cleared Temple of Ethos and Moses took the armor from the Helmed Horror and repaired it so he could wear it. After leaving Moses awakened another stage of his divine energy (Phase 2 of 3). After this Lyra offered that if Moses wanted she would run from the Gods with him, after this he rejected her offer saying that he can't leave right after they got the power to set things right. Lyra agrees and says she will stick with Moses in order to help him finish this business with Ohrer.   During the night Bill kept watch but did not have a high enough perception to know that Moses was captured and replaced by a doppelganger that took his place. The party set off to Froll to investigate the Mercy Monastary where Toby was originally from that had been attacked by the creature pretending to be Bill. After seeing Toby the guards of Froll were more than happy to let the party investigate and gained some more appreciation for the party.   Upon entering the boarded up structure they wer eambushed by a small group of thieves who they quickly took care of. Afterwards they discovered that Toby's uncle Ben who was previously believed to be dead is actually being held in a state between life and death so that he can be questioned until the caster decides to do away with him. After a successful arcana check the party found a general direction where the party could possibly find the caster who did this.    The trail lead them to Rya, a tiefling warlock who runs a traveling artifact store and says that the caster who pretended to be Bill recently visited her to buy something. The party asked if she would be able to find him and she says that if they pay her she would be able to tract him down rather simply. The doppelganger pretending to be Moses then struck Rya and claimed that due to her use of demonic magic she was up to no good. The party then decided to go see the wizard Faust in Ultribar.   Faust immediately knew there was an imposter and offered them mercy but after they stayed he casted power word kill and exploded the fake Moses' head. He then provided a way to find the caster responsible, known as Cosmo who was in Lowry. The party headed out for Lowry on their way to get Moses who was being interrogated about the Vault of Ignis. As the party arrived to Lowry they were attacked by Nerri, Lyra, and a doppelganger of each member of the party. It was a close fight but after convincing Lyra and Nerri that the others were imposters they turned the tides and killed the doppelgangers.   They saw that a ritual radiating light was occuring in the temple and decided to head in on a mission to stop it. After entering a 5th level fireball was launched at them, they were hardly standing and began the fight with only the four of them and Cosmo. Cosmo knocked Belavor and Moses onto the ground while Bill and Toby decided that they could not afford to continue fighting and would allow Cosmo to open the portal leading them to the vault of Ignis. After entering the party was rewarded to a few magical artifacts in the vault but most of them were kept for Cosmo himself.   End Date 1:7:6, Summary of Lowry 6 unnamed NPC's, tot pop: 17, Dulmur is still working on the wall and will be for a good while, the town hall is nearly complete and just needs to be furnished.
