Session 8: Son of Justice Report

General Summary

Picking up right where the last session ended, the priest of Ethos Thaymin was praising Moses as the son of justice explaining that he is going to be the paladin of Ethos to bring justice. Thaymin said that he needs the assistance of Moses and that he needs him to come to the House of Ethos so they may help him with the awakening of the dormant power in him. The party took off separately to find what he called the House of Ethos, in an abandoned village south of Stratum.   After arriving to the House a old decrepit woman was stumbling in the street and asked the party for help. As Bill walked up to her, she revealed herself to be a Jackalwere that attacked then attacked the party but were easily defeated. They then encountered a hex that prevents those who do not worship Ethos from entering the decrepit temple. Only Bill was attacked by the hex and is cursed with the vision of seeing his mother crushed by rocks. This will last three days and can cost Bill his sanity.   After entering Moses was told that he could only complete the trials himself and the rest of the party must stay in the front area of the temple. Bill and Toby were offered wine and food but only Bill had taken any and was then offered to have a chance to clean himself in the bathing house outside. While in the steam room he fell unconsious and was then abducted by the followers of Thaymin. Moses underwent the three trials unknowing of this.   His three trials were meant to test his dedication to Ethos as well as grant him several magical artifacts to make him more powerful. His first test was one of divinity which due to his Aasimar race he did pass and was awarded the Pennant of Ethos. The second was one of devotion where a statue of Ethos searched his soul for evil events that had occured, causing him to have a vision of Jesus the Bard who Moses felt great guilt for. This caused him to become exhausted so he was healed by Thaymin and told that when he decided he was ready for the third he could enter the underground catacombs.   Toby saw him as he was escorted down to see the final trial and warned Moses that they had abducted Bill and the final trial is Moses passing judgement on an individual. Moses realized that Thaymin had been preventing Ethos from speaking to him and briefly was able to converse with him. Ethos said that they do hold the power to awaken the dormant energy in Moses but she did not think that he was going to be ready yet. As Moses entered the trial, Toby prepared to save both Bill and his lion Spencer from the cage they were in dangling over lava.   Moses was told that he would have to choose between killing his uncle Ishmael or his companian Lyra who had both betrayed Ethos in the eyes of the church. He decided if this is what it took he would kill Ishmael but before he could Ethos stopped them and a fight commenced between the followers and the party with Thaymin summoning a Helmed Horror to fight Moses on his own. The fight was close but the party managed to win the fight and clear the House of Ethos.   End Date 1:7:3, Summary of Lowry: 6 unnamed NPC's, tot pop: 16 people, Dulmur is now working on a small wall for the town and the other members are working on building a town vault/hall
