2025/03/21: Searching Kierst Isle Part 3
General Summary
Malakai, Buzz, Knight, Rusti, Kal'vus, Kelsey Due to concerns about the possibility of another WMD failsafe trap, Kelsey gave the order for her troops to evacuate the island. The adventurers had their ways of escaping such an explosion, but the unsuspecting troops would have no such luck. The ex-flesh-golem was no longer trying to fight the party, but he was just wandering around near the corner, mumbling, and beating his sword against the walls and floor. Buzz, concerned, suggested Kelsey ask Killgleam and Korbane to check how many people were trapped in that flesh golem. A dispel magic and dispel evil changed the golem's behavior. Instead of aggression, he started trying to tear himself apart. After a bit of time, it was revealed that he had been constructed in layers. He was like a flesh golem wearing a flesh golem mech suit. After some close calls and subdual by Knight, Buzz managed to get close enough to land a Phoenix Gate on the golem. It lit on fire. After a gory few seconds, a panicking man in plate armor clawed his way out of the melting flesh. 6'6", whitish blond hair, white cloak, plate mail. Very tan Nordic person, kind of? Sort of swarthy skin. Maybe 350 lbs. in armor. He managed a few moments of lucidity, grunted something in a celebration of freedom, and then passed out. Rusti got Kal'vus unparalyzed and the party loaded the unconscious man onto a Tenser's Floating Disk. They considered sending him back to the boat, but they decided he was as likely to die there as he would with the party. With a moment to think, Buzz noted that the man might be a berserker. That would explain why he passed out. Before heading through the next door, the party inspected the tapestry on the far wall. It turned out to be painted on the wall, rather than being actual cloth. Buzz summoned a wall of stone in front of it, placed to be as inconvenient as possible. The next room was an identical shape, with another painting of a ship. This ship was less impressive, but more intimidating; the sails gave the impression of bat wings, and the figurehead looked like it was trying to bite. After some magic-enhanced deliberation, the party determined that to get to the Animus Society mages, they would have to fight through this whole preliminary dungeon. They were also gradually picking up some sort of necromantic curse aura as they went. The party buffed up and headed into the next room. This ship is named the Bale Wind. A fiendish crew appeared in a burst of hellfire.

Notes
Rusti, if killed, respawns in the nearest storm. Rather than having a contingency to teleport her out before she's killed, she has a contingency to teleport her equipment out.
