Following the guidance of a blue-tipped raven the party were lead through the town and rushed to renforce the Western Barricade after hearing screams and the sounds of the gates breaking.
Upon arriving you found Ismark’s alone and injured, barring down on him, a Zombie Plague Spreader. Here, amidst piles of bodies and broken barricades, you fought a fierce battle against the last remnant of Strahd's forces.
The victory was shortlived and was soon interrupted by Rahadin, Strahd's dread chamberlain, came forth with a decree of death and subjugation, his voice carrying the cries of those he had slain, striking fear into the hearts of any who dared oppose his master. He also congratulated Ismark about his promotion of station.
Returning to the burgomaster’s mansion, the players and Ismark discover the front door ajar, leading them to a chilling scene. In the parlor, Kolyan Indirovich lies dead, a deep wound across his chest, and nearby, Ireena lies unconscious with fresh puncture wounds on her neck. When she awakens, Ireena recalls only fragmented details—a shadowy figure, crimson eyes, and the haunting words, “We shall meet again.” Grieving and horrified, Ireena grapples with guilt over her father’s death, feeling as though she played a part in his fate. Exhausted, Ismark urges the players to stay with Ireena while he tends to the wounded, promising to bury Kolyan come morning.
Late that night, Charity overhear's Ismark and Ireena in a heated discussion. Ismark is desperate to send her to Vallaki, a safer haven, away from Strahd’s reach, while Ireena insists on remaining to aid her village. Their argument softens as Ismark confesses his fear of losing her after their father’s death. Eventually, Ireena agrees to leave, but only after they bury their father together. Their shared grief and quiet tears linger as they prepare for the somber farewell to Barovia’s beloved burgomaster.
