Session 7 - Lizards and Larceny
General Summary
Niranen and Fen finally reach Kekra’s Refuge, having been delayed by sporing mushrooms in the tunnels. They arrive just in time to see a group of kobolds pushing something human-sized into a sack, leaping onto lizards. Outside the station, Wren flags down the rest of the group, explaining that she and Tatil had been drugged, and Tatil had been abducted by the kobolds that were fleeing with the mysterious package that Pascal had handed off. Maxima took a moment to comfort Wren, surreptitiously cleansing her of the poison that she’d been drugged with, and Bryn quickly paid for a number of lizards to give chase. With Peiskos casting Longstrider on Cliff and the other lizards, the group was quick to catch up with the fleeing kobolds. There ensued a running battle, with Niranen crucially Suggesting that the lizard-driver of the main group slow down and stop. While that was going on the battle raged, with Tris throwing one kobold off it’s lizard, then crushing it against the floor with an artful flop off the wall. Deltair booted one kobold so hard they lost grip of their gravity stone, and with Maks neatly slicing their saddle from the back of their lizard, they ended up tumbling down the passageway. Peiskos took his black wood shillelagh to any kobold that boarded the largest lizard, while Bryn found every eldritch blast he fired going wide of the mark.
Fen made a climb to the main kobold platform, snatching up the still-comatose Tatil tossing a sorcerous kobold to the lower lizard to be bludgeoned and stabbed by Peiskos and Bryn, and before too long the attrition of the kobold forces and some compelling arguments from Del and Maxima caused them to give up and surrender. On the dead sorcerer they found fourty-six gold, that was promptly given to Fen as treasurer. After a little compensation from the surviving kobolds for the lizard fare, and a brief search of the only deceased one, the group returned back to Kekra’s Refuge with the mysterious valuable package, returning to the alleyway where they left Pascal. The kobold was still unconscious, guarded by the single remaining guard, and the adventurers rapidly convinced him to give up his boss. They also managed to convince him to take them to Pascal’s office – his real office. Also, the mysterious package was revealed to be a Bag of Holding, which Niranen turned out to discover four valuable gems and a torn part of a ledger that seemed to hold messages in draconic – Bryn translated the passages, finding heavily euphemistic language that implied that Pascal was assisting someone calling himself Trall in making a large section of Junction undesirable to live in. In his words, “you’re introducing the undead into Junction for a real estate scam?!” Re-entering Pascal’s office building, they investigated a secret side room the guard kobold indicated for them, finding a notebook that corresponded with the one in the bag of holding. Maxima and Marty also discovered a pair of magical rings and the other half of the ledger in the package, along with a number of books on architecture and several signet rings bearing a stylized P – presumably Pascal’s sigil. Everything with paper or ink went into the bag of holding, including a rather large amount of office supplies for Marty to enjoy later. After some discussion, the group headed home to the Brownstone with Pascal trussed up in a sack for later questioning before they hand him over to the temple of Chauntea. After making sure he was secure, Peiskos, Tris, Bryn, Maxima and Deltair had a moment’s conversation around the table, during which Maxima was gently pressed to be a little more open and friendly with the group, with Tris in particular inviting her friendship and Bryn making encouraging motions. The smaller group also discussed Fen’s predicament, with Peiskos and Tris agreeing that the situation in Feymoor definitely deserved their attention as a matter of urgency.
