Session 45: Wanna Make a Dorc?

General Summary

The party sailed on The Wolfhound heading to the Orc village of Bor Rorkred before heading to Port Raven in Askel. When opening the backpack of holding, the party were surprised to discover a yapping corgi that was shoved into the bag with two accompanying letters. The first read:     To the holder of another backpack:   The sword and cloak were found in the bag as well as the gold. We took the items and the gold in order to identify them, as they radiated magic. As you may understand, magical components can be very costly. The gold was spent, but the items could be returned, as well as with a list of discovered properties of said items. Though you are in possession of three of our potions, and I do think it is only fair for me to point out that we had 200 gold in the backpack before the items and other gold were discovered and now that sum is missing. We also identified the backpack (at our own expense) and determined that this is a Shared Backpack, much like a bag of holding, but the interdimensional space is connected to several different backpacks. Our preliminary investigations seem to indicate that there are a total of three connected packs (including ours). We obviously need to come to some sort of arrangement on how to share this space. We are withholding the sword and cloak and their descriptions of magic until such a time as we can negotiate fair use of the backpack.   Sincerely,   Odeneus, Master of the Skies and Wizard of the Fate’s Fortune Adventuring Party     The second note was written in a different handwriting with a sloppy, hastily written script and read:     Sorry about the dog. It was yapping and going to alert the whole house so I quick tossed it into the bag since I didn’t want to kill it. I’ll get it later, but maybe you’ll get it before me. Sorry if it's just a corpse or if it’s still alive and yapping. Don’t know if it’ll live in there. I’ll get Sammy to clean up any mess it might’ve made.   Fleck Redcloak, Fate’s Fortune     The corgi was quickly protected and claimed by Ilbryen who named the dog “Pete”.   The crew seemed eager to arrive at Bor Rorkred. Illevaere knew a bit about the village, just that it was an orc village. Orcs typically do not produce much, so they rely on a raiding culture. However, there was a peace between the wood elves to the north and the orcs, as the elves helped to provide the orcs with what they needed to avoid raiding.   The Wolfhound dropped anchor and sent a few dinghies out to the orc village as the party traveled out with Daihl MacGregor and Dhowgok MacGregor. The excited chatter of the sailors quickly informed the party as to why they were so enthused about a bit of shore leave at Bor Rorkred. Apparently the village is known for the orc women offering their bodies to visiting sailors for sex.   As the dinghies docked, sailors and the party were immediately approached by a number of orc women, propositioning them for sex. Dhowgok asked Daihl if this was how he met her mother, but Daihl insisted that it was not.   As the party entered deeper into the village, Illevaere overheard elven voices from one of the tents, discussing their annoyance at having to wait, but Illevaere did not approach. They also observed that a number of the orcs seemed to carry various deformities on their bodies, some much worse than others. The party were quickly taken to Tumizar, Dhowgok’s aunt who is one of the leaders of the orc tribe. While initially cold toward Daihl, Tumizar was pleased at their return, and the meeting of her niece, Dhowgok.   The party left them to reconnect, finding their way to a drinking hall. Illevaere, however, went to investigate the elves that they heard before. They discovered that the elves were from Winterglen and were familiar with Illevaere’s family. They informed Illevaere that their sister was with child, but that their family was doing well. They also explained why they were in Bor Rorkred.   The orcs of Bor Rorkred have a heritage. Centuries ago, the Formorian warrior god, Balor, wreaked havoc on the lands with little ability to slow his reign of destruction. Balor, however, was fated to be defeated by one of his own blood, so he immediately locked up his daughter so she would not bear a child. An orc, however, found her tower and courted her, stealing her away from Balor. Together they had three sons. Balor discovered this and drowned the sons, though one survived. Raised by the orcs, he was able to fight Balor and drive him back into The Feywild.   Now the orcs continue the bloodline of the Formorian warrior god, keeping watch on the mountains for Balor’s return and fighting the fomorians who venture out. The elves are aware of this and find their holding back the Formorians in the mountains useful to them, as well as all of the Isles, and so they have supported their village. Orcs are short-lived, rarely making it to 50 years of age if they do not die in battle first, and they produce little. This is why the elves supply the orcs, so that they do not need to raid other communities and draw threats of eradication from humans.   However, the orcs have spent so many generations inbreeding to keep their bloodline as pure as they can, many of the orcs are now sterile or infertile. This is why outsiders are approached to mate with the orcs–to keep new generations of warriors at the ready to hold back the formorians. This is also why Dhowgok was so well received. Her mother was one of the orcs with the purest bloodlines, and since she was able to conceive and bear a child, it is assumed that Dhowgok would be able to as well, thus a new source to keep the bloodline continuing.   After learning this, Illevaere returned to the party who were waiting in a tavern, turning down propositions from the orcs as they waited for the dinghies to return to the Wolfhound. One of the orcs propositioned Bolvaic, asking if he would like to “make a dorc” with her–a Half-Orc, half-dwarf child. Bolvaic turned down the offer.   The party felt that the information about the village’s past and their perception of Dhowgok should be made known to Daihl. The party talked to Daihl, informing him of the full story behind the village and he thought it would be best to inform Dhowgok and leave the village. The party considered sneaking Dhowgok away, but ultimately decided to announce to Tumizar their intent to leave with Dhowgok. If she would not allow them to leave with her peacefully, then they would fight their way out.   The party informed the first mate of the ship what they intended on doing, letting them know that there might be a fight should they not allow Dhowgok to leave freely. With an extra fee paid, he accepted the party’s decision and readied his crew the leave early.   The party approached Tumizar and Daihl made a surprisingly impassioned and effective plea for the release of Dhowgok and Tumizar conceded her release. Though their exit was tense, the party was able to escort Daihl and Dhowgok back to the dinghies and return to the Wolfhound.
