Session 7: The Sacred Vault Report

General Summary

With the guards subdued, Ulric would lift the manacled man to his feet pushing him ahead of the group as Clonk was called from his looting of bedrooms to pick the lock into the Cathedral. The goblin made quick work of it, to which Ulric would hold the captive guard in front him as he walked into the temple. A strange chanting would be heard, a litany being spoke in some dark tongue. As they rounded the corner, a corpse of a priest would be high upon the pulpit giving a sermon to a few skeletal warriors clad in heavy armors below, the stench of corpses flooding their noses. Battle was soon quickly joined as the risen paladins pushed forward and the priest began to chant his dark magics. The guard would get blasted by a surge of necrotic energy, as would many of our heroes. One of the death knights squared up with Pozake who strode forward, sensing the true paladins holy nature, the fury of the corrupted dead would push forth trying to snuff out his life. Drogomir would produce a scroll and summon forth corpse feasting worms to burst from the zombified priest in the pulpit, devouring the corrupted flesh. Ulric would tangle with the second death knight with little success. Katarina would dart from the sides trying to flank the death knights her blade darting forth to strike, while Adelade would hurl her bombs at the priest from afar. Darius would stride in after the fact falling forth the blessing of his god, healing energies burning the undead and mending his allies.

To all of their horror, the gigantic form of a flesh gollum would squeeze and crush its way thru a narrow door emerging into the church with a roar. Ripping a chunk of its own flesh from its should, it would hurl it at Darius in response to the sacred light, crushing him under decaying and rotting flesh. Clonk and Drogomir would skirt the battle and try to confront the corrupted cleric with some success while Pozake hammered the death knight. The Cleric however would not let its corrupted soldier fall, revitalizing its dead form to fight on. The Flesh hulk would move over to deliver a heavy blow to Drogomir, while Ulric struggled to graple and twist the last death knight to the ground. The Deathknight would be revived from its destruct several times before the Cleric would fall to Drogomirs hammer. Adelade would rush to aide Pozake and Ulric with her healing potions, while Darius tended to his wounds and summoned a blessing to bolster them against this evil. The Flesh hulk would smash Drogomir to the floor with a devestating blow, braking many bones and leaving him unconcious. Katarinas blade would flicker in the torch light as it punctured the flesh and many organs of the strange amalgamation of bodies. As the death knights fell they would explode in negative energy, mysteriously healing Darius while stealing life from the rest. The battle would be hard fought but the temple would be clensed of its evil, and Drogomir would be healed and brought to his feet.

They would find the antchamber they had been directed to by the legate only to vanish, teleporting to strange place. A temple of ancient design, awash in golden light, but run down and almost ruined. The sound of flapping wings would fill the air as a winged angel of Verlaelus would appear. "Brother Pozake...I recognize you, but not those you bring with." "I am sorry lord but I do not know you?" the paladin would reply. "I am the guardian of this Armory, long since removed from Azanar, and hence its decay...you have come for my armaments, what evil do you face?" Pozake would explain the undead blight upon Wolfsfelden, the Archon would look over his party, "And can all of these who fight with you be trusted? Do they have hearts of Justice as you do?" Pozake would vouch for them, tho Katarina would shrink to the back of their line some. The Archon would regard each then pose several questions, "Katarina," clearly knowing their names, "A notorious criminal has evaded justice due to the corruption of the judges and his influence time and time again causing untold damage and sorrow for the people of Wolfsfelden. You have have cornered them and can now take them into custody to once again stand trial, what do you do?" Katarina would frown to this, "Then I would bring him to another district where the judges are not corrupt." The Archon would tilt its head, "Would you now?" then turning to look to Ulric, " A Law has been passed which states that all Goblins must be expelled from the city. Their constant mischief, propensity for arson, and general chaos have proven to much for the city to withstand. The goblins are peaceful and have been productive members of the city now for almost a century. This expulsion will require the destruction of their livelyhood and put many at risk to survive in the wilds, what do you do?" Ulric would frown, "Is my lord a just ruler?" The Archon would seem to smile, "he believe so." Clonk would look up to Ulric with concerned eyes. Ulric would shake his head, "Most do, I would do what I could to see they are safely moved if my lord was a just man."

The Archon would look next to Drogomir, "If you were given the power to summon a divine and powerful archon of Azanar, but each time you summoned them they would become more and more tied to the mortal plane, so that finally if defeated here they would face oblivion, what would you do?" Drogomir would answer simply, "I would ask them what they wished, as it is not my place to use others." Lastly the archon would turn to Darius, "If a gift from this place gave you the power to destroy evil, but with each use of its power a piece of you were to be lost forever, would you still use this weapon if it ment your own demise?" Darius without hesitation, "Yes, without question." The Archon would look back to Pozake, "Tred carefully, not all among you speak the truth, but, your cause is just and your compatriots eager to see it finished, see that when the job is done these items return to the armory," and the Angelic Archon would vanish, a great chest appearing instead. Within the chest were a variety of sister stone armaments and pieces of equipment clearly made for each of those assembled. They set about to arming themselves, then returned to the Wolfsden to make a plan and see their runes moved to their new arms and armor.
