Session 10: The Wildeborn Threat Report
General Summary
With the city safely in Casimirs hands, the party decided it was best to deal with the Wildeborn. A day into their travel back to the hinterlands they would find refugees fleeing the village they had been sent to originally what seemed like an age ago. They would share their experience with the horrific attack and how many of their countrymen were taken as prisoners. The Wildeborn splitting into two groups, one heading towards the Goblin hamlet in the woods, and a group with the prisoners more northerly. Reaching the village the next day they would explore the smoldering ruins, Dragomir would find a survivor buried in the rubble of his old shop. Thanking them he would offer what healing potions he had left before hustling off towards Wolfsfelden.
After a brief discussion the party decided it would be best to rescue the prisoners before they were turned into Wildeborn, the likely fate of the prisoners. Klonk would seem dismayed at this fearing for his home, but was determined to follow his new friends. They moved quickly into the woods finding a strange altar with many Wildeborn chanting while a shaman held up some sort of craggy stone over a woman tied down to said alter. Wasting no time Ulric roared his rage turning into his bestial form and charging forward. Katarina and Pozake would follow as Darius and Adelaide made ready to support. Drogomir would focus on the ritual and see if he could disrupt the shaman. while Klonk snuck around to the north.
Battle was quickly joined as Ulric was overrun with several of the Wildeborn. Thru his rage the many blows would not be felt as he tore into them with fang and claw. Katarinas blade would dance beside him trying to move the Wildeborn off of him and even the odds, while Pozak attacked with righteous fury. Adelaids bombs would fly and Darius would send healing and call forth a blessing from Drustanus. Drogomirs attempt to disrupt the shamans casting would be of little effect eventually drawing the attention of other Wildeborn who would lose their arrows on him. Klonk however would make his way around and climb the altar, rescuing the girl there and disrupting the ritual.
The Shaman would roar its furry striking Klonk with a spell to mark him and torment his mind, before turning his magic on the others. A great explosion of magic would send Drogomir sprawling and unconcious, the light of his lantern going out leaving the others in darkness. Darius barely clinging to concsiousness himself after the assault would do what he could to get Drogomir back into the fight. With the ritual distrupted the remaining wildeborn would grow to monsterous proportion, while the other made ready for a harder and harder fight. Darius would release a column of fire that would incinerate the two overgrown wildeborn allowing Ulric and Katarina to leap upto the altar and contend with the Shaman. Pozake would cut down the last remaining wildeborn and join the others, now slaying the shaman. While the immediate threat was gone, the ritual was still cascading and pulsing with terrifying primal energy.
