Session 11: The Tyrant's Compass

General Summary

Last we left off; the group had just laid down for a rest in the tavern that they had discovered to be part of the resistance group in Blale. There were some that dreamed and some that didn't get much sleep that night. Boots aka Ghost found herself in a battlefield, watching Aeren Grimvein destroy Sangton and the cold figure that loomed over them seemed to recognize her, even questioned why she was back. Swordbearer Annghorhast had a lovely conversation with Lorsan the moon lich, telling him that he should return back to Mli Alora and that Sangton was waiting on him. Ray on the other hand was praised by Bhita Goddess of Art, Commerce, and the Modern World. She was proud of him for continuing progress and allowing the forge to be moved to Adheath and as her hands dug into his side, she told him that they would forge something together as well.

As morning approached, everyone awoke to find Aeren downstairs, returned from his trials and reconditioning of the hells. After some banter between the group and some information passed that they were being sought after by town guards, it was clear that Annghorhast was not having it and sword and shield in hand he marched downstairs to slay the hell spawn again. A fight broke out where Ray was able to tie Annghorhast up with a rope and the bar tender was able to hold him. Aeren moved upstairs where Ghost followed him while the rest of the group attempted to calm him down. Ghost proceeded asking Aeren about the vision that she had saw and who the woman was; Aeren didn't respond, and she threatened him wanting to know the answers. A gunshot echoed from the tavern and a few moments later, two members of The Wayfarer's Guild entered inside, trying to figure out what was going on and noticing that there was a scuffle occurring. As the group came back together, the two guild members realized that these were the people that they were looking for. Rowan, one of the members that had traveled with Amahri Rhea, begged him to just go with him to resolve whatever misunderstand that they had been involved in, but the group wasn't having it. Annghorhast still struggled to get out and kill Aeren, Ray informed the guild that they should leave; however, it was too late. The other one that had come in with them, yelled outside the door of the tavern and a swarm began approaching. The bar tender was laid out. Aeren was attempting to move away from Annghorhast and Rheese just so happened to find a latch to a hastily made escape tunnel that moved them a few hundred feet underground. It was time to leave. Ghost exited and hopped upon the rooftops and set up in a sniping position. Aeren leapt out of a window from the second floor and escaped. The rest of the group decided it would be best to go through the tunnel.

Aeren was able to escape and hide, the rest of the group ended up in a storage room where they attempted to disguise themselves, and Ghost decided to run along the rooftops firing into the air to scatter the guild members that had gathered around the tavern. It was at this time, she felt something sharp touch her cheek and a hooded figure holding a crossbow against her smiled excitedly at her. "I'll give you a head start" he told her, and she took off, firing as she leapt between rooftops; however, the rogue hunter Veyda proved too much for her and she collapsed onto a rooftop where the wraith from her cloak came out, protecting the body. The rest of the group exited, and ray sent his familiar up into the air to survey the area. He found Ghost with Veyda sharpening a blade circling around Ghost and inspecting the wraith like a predator about to take out its prey at the most opportune time. The group hurried towards the building where she was at and prepared for a fight; it was at this point that Ray Cyst prepared for titanfall and dropped Noose on top of the building where it, Veyda, and Ghost all collapsed to the ground. Patrons scattered as one of the buildings collapsed and a fight ensued where Veyda was killed by ghost, who seemed to have some pent-up anger issues going on that she needed to let out. The group exited down into the sewers where they began following the flow of water. Meanwhile, Aeren wandered around the town and had caught wind that the festival was being cancelled due to terroristic activities. As the group exited from the sewers a fireworks display began shimmerig in the distance, marking the end of the festival.

Ray sent a message to Aeren, telling him to wait and they'd get back together soon and meandered back into the warehouse that him and Claude had explored previously. The group went down the winding hallways, finding more rooms with more people hooked up, but nothing of consequence. The group also set timed charges to take some of these warehouses out. They decided to make their way to the mayor's manor to call him out, telling Aeren to meet them there. Ray sent his familiar into the mansion and set it ablaze, sending a message with explicit intent. Claude moved out to keep watch where he was almost flattened by a car that pulled up to the manor. The remaining members of the six stepped out and a battle ensued once more. Annghorhast and Ray focused on Vyzathros, The Tyrant's Hand and it wasn't until the old man executed a very well divine smite that Lord Varos turned towards him, his face twisting in almost disgust and anger, before targeting the divine wielder single handedly. Annghorhast fell and awakened to his mother telling him to hurry and go out the window to play with Verrona Melandor before his dad catches him for their training schedule. Soon after Noose fell to pieces. Things looked dire for the group until Ghost leapt out of the building and latched on to Varos, clawing and tearing out his throat with her mouth until one by one, the six fell...except for the Orc Gorvak the Relentless who after seeing his master fall decided it was time to exit. Perhaps Varos wasn't that strong after all. With the mansion in shambles, the group made their way towards the center of town to investigate.

Claude began searching for ancient looking artifact, Ghost "investigated" a jewelry shop, Rheese destroyed a gambling bot and found a magic shop where he "paid for" some magic items, and Ray grabbed some of the Joyce's Juice imports that they had been selling at the festival because they probably won't see any again for a while due to the massive disruptions of the supply chain they had just caused. Stepping over countless number of unconscious festival goers Durokk came walking up, carrying the "princess" and had a short conversation with them, telling them that they'd rebuild with her and stepped off into the sunset. The group got their cart and exited, looking back towards a once vibrant city gone dark and plumes of black smoke from fire and explosions wafting into the night air. Looking forward, they began heading towards their next destination.
