Session 15: A fully dressed man and a dragon walk into a bar Report
General Summary
Last we left off, the group after having Aeren offer his bastard child into the protection of the talking cat decided that they would continue their journey to Bokdat; however, before they exited, Ghost noticed a spirit floating around the river, looking longingly towards the rest of the group. She attempted communication with it, but he did not take to her. After it disappeared, the group took the road to the city of Bokdat where they met an interesting Kenku by the name of Miso Hor'ni. After some colorful banter and bartering between the group and miso, he sent them to an inn ran by his cousin Ro'man Nood'l and gave them some advice to "not drink the water". After a delightful night's rest, the group made their way towards the city of Lindorthell where they met a bugbear chef who had been serving at the mansion they were headed to for years and was wanting to set up his own restaurant with the money that he had saved up. Walking into the mansion they met Mica, a half-orc barbarian who had taken a job under new management there and liked it. After some conversation, they made their way into the mansion where ghost saw another familiar face, a dwarf chef named Drawn. Unfortunately, she was the only one who could see him. He told her that he came back to answer a "call" for help. The chef led them to the dining hall, where he opened the door to let them in. Sitting at a table were five people, one of them wearing a fancy, pointed hat. As the group took in the surrounding area, the bugbear was suddenly not there anymore, and the groceries hit the ground next to what was left of his legs and shoes. The hat leapt up from his seat, proclaiming that he had saved them all from a vile beast that had planned on murdering them. He offered them food and drink, introducing each one of his companions and they all sat around and laughed, while the lady of the house whom Ghost had previous terrible dealings with seemed to be the most kind-hearted and compassionate person. Thanking the gods that she had returned home. He explained to her that he'd come back from so long ago to his old friend's house to check up on them and to help them with their situation. He'd employed the children there and sent away one of them to be backup to a traveling band known as Echochime. The group were offered rooms and changes of clothes into the finest silks and was also told that they needed to be gone by lunch the next day. Some decided to take him up on the offer, some didn't. Klaus immediately became the life of the party as Ghost excused herself to do some digging around while Ray played with his new sword. The hat also excused himself as his drink had run through him. Ghost made her way out to the stables where she found her own grave...I mean drawn's grave, where she dug into it and pulled out a saltshaker that he carried. There she found Raze, who was still attending to the animals there; after some talk and watching two of the children's spirits that followed her burn to death in the stable she was in again, she'd made up her mind. During this time, the spirit that had been following them approached ghost again and presented her with a locket of her...and KLAUS?!
She was going to remove Stewart. She had to. And so, she made her way down into the basement of the mansion where she ran across Ray, were able to fast-talk one of the guards there, and she entered the room...seeing him with a chained up half-elf girl, beating her senseless...and he just turned around and scoffed. "I'll deal with you in a moment."...but that moment never came. Ghost extended her claws, lunging and biting at him. He tried to use call against her, but Ghost was not having it and literally tore him apart...and then something happened that she wasn't expecting. The bloodlust. The craving. Feeling such sweet release, it overtook her and that sweet, young girl chained up became a perfect target for her yearning. As Ray ran in, he witnessed Ghost gutting her and then her senses return back. They were able to heal her, but the damage had already been done. She fled, bypassing Ghost and Ray and running towards the stables. Ghost had one more thing she needed to do though and made her way towards the vault, where she bent the very fabric of reality to escape a trap...only to hear a click behind her. The hat chuckled and told her that he would have opened the door for her and that his gifts for her were in here. A ring and a gun. He didn't care for all the other things in there and let her have her way, where she destroyed the spiritual trinkets and released the spirits that had been captured and remained behind, offering them freedom. After this, Ghost made her way back to the stables where she checked on the two girls who were fast asleep and decided that she would sleep there tonight. While washing herself, she felt someone hatty come up behind her and call her "Needle in Silk" which is very akin to a tabaxi-style name and put a necklace around her, but when she turned and looked around there was nothing there. Sleep encompassed all of them. Ray received a message from his goddess. After giving Ghost gave Klaus the trinket that she had passed on, he communed with his dead wife Thessalyne, who gave him the power of love to avenge their children. The passed through Bokdat once more where they met a man that fell from the sky named Hanari. His impact completely shattered the ground beneath him and he immediately pointed to Klaus, asking him to have a drink with him. The town stood silent. Watching. Quiet. And after the drink was finished, he leapt into the air while the group noticed a thin strand of golden fateweave dangling off of him before turning into a giant Azure dragon.
The group decided it was best to move on. They met The Skarr Tribe where they were warned of the dangers in the Nevermelting Fields. Seeking shelter from a storm, they entered a cavern with two people frozen solid. Ray sealed the door shut with ice; however, in the middle of the night a scratching sound echoed throughout the cavern. The group prepared themselves and a young white dragon burst through. Shots and spells were fired, before Ray held up his arms to stop everyone. He paid homage to the dragon and noticed an iron collar around its neck. Having a discussion and removing the collar, the young beast repaid the debt by sleeping in the doorway and dropping them off at the rundown mansion at the far end of the field. Opening the door, Corin Rheese stood there, dumbfounded as he stared towards his son and could only explain, "Rheese?". To which Rheese exclaimed, "Dad?!"...and corin replied back, looking over the group...."...Klaus?"
