Session 84: The Outer Planes.
General Summary
The companions of Shining Eclipse were escorted to the office of Mistress Arali Mistsong avoiding as many students as possible to avoid the questions the students would have asked about the adult strangers that are on the property of the school. In normal circumstances adults unless staff members are not allowed on the island. There they meet the husband of the Headmistress a halfling by the name of Quinlan who is also a professor at the school. Arali informs the companions that her husband is not a member of the Order of the Phoenix and know nothing of the now discovered hidden fortress monastery. Arceven is also consoled on the loss of his father who both say was a good hobbit leader. Both say a word about the former Headmaster who was also killed in the coronation of King Arthur. Sadness of the loss of the former headmaster can be seen in Arali eyes as she herself is witnessing the prophecy that has been foretold for years being fulfilled. Lunch was served as the questions were both asked and answered. Dame Sunwhisper also introduced herself to warn the headmistress of the coming changes that would be happening with the fortress monastery being reactivated again. The party found out the words Silver Pipe was in reference to an inn. Ashmere was gate city on the outer plane of Purgatory if one were to believe such a place existed. Arali told that party that she had discovered the name of the Purgatory and the city gate in her third year school which began the process her being recruited by the Order of the Phoenix. More information was exchanged then the party left after lunch to avoid as many students as possible and headed small harbor of Wyvern island to find the Silver Pipe inn. The party also learned that Dagon and Fagus had went to school here together and were knows as pranksters while they were here.
The companions travel a half of the day arriving harbor town of Wyvern. The town of Wyvern is just a small hamlet that serves the need of the school. Everything that the school is delivered to the hamlet. Students who come and go to the abbey depart or arrive from this hamlet. The Silver Pipe inn is a three story inn from the outside. This inn is where anyone who is not a student or a staff member would stay on the Island. The abbey has very strict rules on who is allowed on the property to protect the students and any magical artifacts that may be on the island. The companions once in the inn were able to located a secret entrance located behind the bar where one would go down to the wine cellar. The inn keeper did everything possible to keep the patrons of the bar occupied as they went down into the wine cellar. Once there they spoke the magic word to get into a interdimensional round room where in the center sat a burley halfling size beaver. The beaver wore a suit and had eye glasses on his nose. On the ceiling of this room was the constellation of YonZora which one who was looking or paying attention would notice that Thanika was back in spot. Here the round trip tickets were purchased to the outer plain known as Purgatory. The price was two red dragon orbs for each ticket. Then the party waited for the train to arrive. The Beaver, or Burrowguard as they are called , who name was Master Thistledown Emberwhisk told the companions that the train arrived at platform 13 3/4 and this was just a ticket office. Master Emberwhisk told them that the tickets would guide them to the platform once they left the inn. Then the party spent about an hour in the harbor looking for the entrance. Dimmir even licked his ticket trying to get to activate. Dimmir was the one who suggested the party head east based on the circle on his ticket. Now whether or not that was accurate will remain to be seen. As the party arrived on the property of the abbey there tickets started to glow which led them to an apple orchard on the eastern end of the Abbey where they found a rather large apple tree and walking through the trunk of the tree entered the platform known as 13 3/4.
Once on the platform the looked at a large locomotive that had steam coming from its stack. Behind the locomotive was a total of 13 cars including the Caboose. Humanoids of several races could be seen exiting the train which of course none of these characters have never seen such a wonder. The train itself as it called seems to follow a contraption called a rail road track. There were also several of the burrowguard on this platform as they seemed to be loading supplies and luggage on the train. The trains conductor stood in the middle of the train which also was the dinning cart for the train as well. The conductor who name is EldrinThistlewhisker asked for the tickets and the companions boarded the train and prepared to depart. Some of the companions went right to bed as it was the 1st hour of the 28th of Diana. Other companions who have not eaten since lunch at the abbey went back to the Dinning cart for a bite to eat. Once they had eaten the party went to sleep except Arceven who was mapping where the train was taking them. The trip to the continent of Hemgrun took around three hours of travel. Dimmir curious of where they were decided to talk to an onboarding passenger by the name of Thor. Then it was another three hours to the continent of South of Azure and the capital city of the Black Legion Empire Rome. The party decided to stay on the train for the 30 minute onboarding process. The from Rome it was a six hour trip to the outer plain of Purgatory.
The outer plain of Purgatory could be described as this: Purgatory is the Plane of Equilibrium, shaped by absolute balance. It is where light and shadow hold no dominance over one another, fire and water mingle without conflict, and earth and air rise and fall in unison. Time flows at a steady, calm rate, unhurried and unrelenting. On one side of Platform 13 3/4 is the River Styx which connects all of the 13 outer plains. This is where the departed travel from where ever they come from the material plain to Purgatory. This is where they would begin what is called the Pilgrims Journey to the great city of Oz which is a 13 day trip. Those on the bubble of being sent to the nine levels of Hell have one more chance to try and redeem themselves on this 13 day journey. Once they reach the city of Oz then they face the judgement and go to the one of the 12 other plains that exist. On the other side of the plat form is the city gate of Ashmere. Ashmere would be described as the following: The town itself is a study in symmetry—its streets laid in a perfect circular grid, lined with harmonious structures of elemental stone, light, and shadow. The buildings are clean, balanced in height and form, made of blended materials from all four elements—air-temples of glass and windstone, flame-courts flickering with controlled heat, water-gardens suspended in stasis, and sturdy earth halls humming with magic. On the western end of this town is what is called the Yellow brick road where a souls pilgrimage starts leading to the Yellow brick road.
As the party departs form the Astral Odyssey they are approached by a tall, statuesque elven woman with sharp, angular features and radiant violet eyes that shimmer like cut gemstones. Her skin has the subtle texture of polished crystal, catching the light with a faint prismatic glimmer. Her long, flowing hair cascades like liquid amethyst, braided intricately with runes of order and judgment. Introducing her self as Vaelrisa Amaranthae begins asking questions of Dagon about his wife Pepper and if she has bee released yet. She also ask about their daughter Sarah. Other companions tried adding some side talk which they were abruptly cut off by Vaeirias to respect a well known hero of the War of the Ancients. A Furrowgurad also approached Karrin welcoming him back and was sorry that he was back so soon. Then realized that he was not on his schedule. The party learned that Harry Houdini was one of many missing mortal posters on the platform. They questioned Hobble Fernwick on the last know location of Harry which he punched up the following information. “Passenger 7B—listed as ‘H. Houdini’. Disembarked at Gate city of Duskarra. No return. Confirmed by conductor Elias Moore. Circle of Guardians notified. Case closed... or buried.” This was 300 years ago. Hobble also told the party that he was looking for someone by the name of Abraham Harker. Some party members went to The Codex Sanctarum the Library of Purgatory to find clues about Harry. The Liberian by the name of Matilda Scrollburrow assured the party members that there was no information on a Harry Houdini was in her
