Season 3: Session 16: The Void Card Report

General Summary

Date: The Month of Intuition 23rd, 997 AC (Friday).   The party just watched Kobble pull a card from the deck Grandad has. Kobble says, "Erif", and prompty falls limp, the card disappearing as he hits the ground. After checking on his body, the party realizes he will not wake up. Mimzy keeps attempting to awaken him while the others decide what to do with him.   Thia takes the initiative and picks up Kobble to take him back to his home. Back in his house she puts him down in Mimzy's nest. After a moment Kobble jolts up and says, "Castle". Kobble gets up and starts running back to town, the party folllows him to the Sheriff's office. The wanted poster notifcation board is charred, but he takes a half burned poster of the Crazed Mage. He gestures that the Crazed Mage is in the castle they found in the mountain range and that they need to go to find him.    Thia asks about checking in with Sheriff Marcus, and Kobble says it isn't necessary. With all of Kobble's half delerious ramblings, Cecil slaps him. Thia tells Kobble to recall as much as possible in his time away in the castle.    Kobble goes on a long tirade recapping his conversation with the Crazed Mage. Talking about their prisons, Opal, the impending war, ice cream, children, and the identity of the Crazed Mage: Hector. He explains that the Crazed Mage is crazed in terms of insanity; a mind slipping under immense power. The Crazed Mage only released Kobble on a promsied trust that Kobble will keep himself and Sherrif Marcus away from him and his family; he'd kill either if he saw their faces again.    The party decides to split up momentarily after Kobble's long speech.   Thia heads to the Kilstrom Guard Camp and is intercepted by Doctor Tom on the way there. He asks for her to fetch some bandages from the General Store. She quickly goes to the basement and finds an alert, yet still injured, Zayne sitting on the floor. She goes around him and fetches the bandages, swiftly bringing them back to the Doctor and receiving a silver as a reward. Finally at the camp, Thia alerts Captain Risingsun to the connection between Ellisar and the Crazed Mage, and their location in the mountain range. After a quick word of thanks, Risingsun hurries into a tent with a large map on a table.    Cecil goes to find Righteousness, on the way to her he runs into Caleb. Or more like Caleb ran into him. Taking a look at the boy, he's still wrapped in bandages, clearing still injured. Caleb goes off without a word, a platinum richer. Back at his house, he finds Righteousness and tells her they need to reclaim their castle now. She agrees and goes with him.    Grandad takes a moment to boop Doby, then goes to find Poppy. While headed that way, Reverend Illiad bursts out of the church and grabs Grandad. He says his connection to the deities is strong and he can send a message. Grandad tells him a message for Lun, but it gets delivered to Erif accidentally. Kobble recieves a note from Erif telling him to stop the crackpot, or he will. Kobble, in annoyed rage, stomps the note into the ground.   Grandad finally makes it to Poppy and starts some gossip about his deck of cards and Kobble. He tells her not to tell and she promptly goes to Brian and starts whispering to him.     Kobble decides to go check on Marcus, who has only recently been revived from his frozen state. On the way there, he is intercepted by Zayne. He starts pointing and tells Kobble to follow him; Kobble picks him up and being hustling as Zayne points into the distance towards the mountain range. Before reaching the entrance to the mountains, Kobble turns and takes Zayne back to the hospital.    Opal is still with a Zayne sized blanket in his arms and a Caleb sized blanket, with a smiley face, in the corner.    Kobble puts on his mask and begins trying to communicate with Marcus, while Zayne flails under his arm. Marcus isn't making much sense, his memories seem to be pulling up things from a few years ago, nothing recent. Kobble tasks Mimzy to try and find Marcus's gun, while looking himself, Zayne knocks something over and alerts Doctor Tom. They're able to get him to leave; Mimzy finds the gun and swaps with Kobble to hold Zayne.    After unsucessfully getting Marcus to remember recent events, Kobble shoots the gun into the ground and alerts the rest of the party. Kobble hides the gun on himself, grabs Zayne, and runs out of the hospital. He finds Grandad, then goes off, then finds Cecil, then goes off, then finds Thia giving Zayne to her. Thia returns to the hospital and returns Zayne to Opal.    The party groups together in the hospital with Doctor Tom. Kobble slides the gun to Mimzy who hid under the bed after the gun shot went off. Doctor Tom requests the party try to find Caleb and return him to the hospital.   Back outside, Thia suspects something and casts locate object. Before the spell is finished, Mimzy manages to plant the gun back onto Kobble. Thia senses the gun on him, and begins chatting with Cecil mentally.    Thia casts fly on Mimzy and Kobble so they can start looking for Caleb; while casting on Kobble, Thia tries to take the gun off him. Kobble gets out of her grasp and puts the gun into his bag of holding. He throws it to Mimzy, who misses the catch. It lands near Grandad and he slips the bag under his robe; no one sees this.    The chatter returns back to the castle and the Crazed Mage. Cecil says they need to go and get Righteousness and his castle. Kobble states he want the castle too; que short joke from Righteousness and a crisp high five with Cecil.    Thia seems reluctant and Cecil orders her to come along to help take the castle. Thia then reveals she told Captain Risingsun about the castle and Kobble starts freaking out.    The party decides, after much discussion, to rest for the evening and head out in the morning (easily forgetting about Caleb).    Kobble and Mimzy head back home. Cecil and Righteousness head home as well.    Grandad stops by the Magic Shoppe and buys some potions.    Thia stops by her home, takes a chest of platinum, and brings it to the Magic Shoppe. She requests Ellion use the money to ensure that Cecil stays alive. She leaves them to being working.    Thia goes to Grandad's home and asks to pull a card from the deck. After some reluctance, he produces the deck for her.   She pulls a card.   TO BE CONTINUED...
