Session 15: The Slumber Party
General Summary
The party passed the day in the Worm and Fly Inn drinking & chatting with their friends, new and old. As the sun started to set, Astrelh and Fjarldt headed out to the bailiff's office where they received both their keyna against the Three Clawed Eye and new information to aid with their quest. Then back to the inn it was, for more drinks and merriment. Our four adventurers had themselves a small slumber party where they told each other about their dreams and crushes. The bailiff's assistant popped in for a bit to give Karu and Iza their keyna, though both of them can not read so they could have been signing anything. After a restful night, the party said their goodbyes to Stimple, Jenkins, Isola and Jassin who set off at dawn to join the caravan going to Ereford and Barebrooke. Now just the four of them they went to the forester's yard to find Hewe Cotter, the apprentice who claimed to have seen a kraken in the woods. After a bout of questioning, they followed the directions he gave them into the woods. Be it because there were no tracks or they did not have the skills to find them, the party found themselves lost. Luckily there were a couple of squirrels that Karu had a quick parlay with and they directed the party back in the right direction. At the grove of saplings Hewe had told them about, they found the tracks of the young man and his horse but nothing else except some flattened patches. Finding no other clues they pushed forwards to question the next person on their list: Cavil Torkson, a farmer whose flock had gone missing a couple of weeks past.
Session Log - Iza
If there is one thing I miss from the ship, it’s a good bottle of rum, but this Violet Gold stuff was certainly a decent replacement. I really had been in need of a drink after the river incident. Everything felt better sitting at the inn, drinking and talking. I still can’t quite shake the feeling of that awful voice inside me but talking about it to the others felt weirdly comforting. It’s kind of silly, I’ve only known these guys for a short while and yet I feel like they understand me better than anyone. I somehow feel safe with them. Well, if they’re not currently trying to drown me that is. The mood actually changed to outright jolly as we continued drinking more and more Violet Gold. Isola and her brother even started singing. And Skrandus and Brakhur were hilarious! I had always heard dwarves are kind of stupid and prideful, but these two at least are a lot of fun. Astrelh and Fjarldt went back to the Bailiff’s office to collect some paper and eventually we all went to our rooms to have a little talk in private. Astrelh told us about a dream he had which he says felt like a prophetic vison of some kind. Though he could remember hardly any details, it had something to do with a battle between darkness and light and a guy with a torch. It sounded very vague, but after what happened to me, I don’t doubt that there are mysterious forces in this world. He also told us about how he had come about getting his magical powers. He had been on a mission to fight some bandits when his group was ambushed. He had thought that everyone but him had died in the battle, though evidently this Lomy guy was still alive too. Well, at least until I killed him the other day. Anyway, after the fight Astrelh awoke with his powers. Kinda like me when I woke up after that storm… Karu and Fjalrdt then got all mushy and started talking about girls they liked. Big softies, both of them! Finally, we all went to sleep. The next morning, we had to say goodbye to Isola. I still don’t understand why she wouldn’t just keep on travelling with us. Apparently, she owes her uncle some kind of debt, but that sounds really stupid to me. I’ve really grown to like her… she is a lot tougher than she first appeared. Hopefully, we will see her again soon. After Isola, Stimple and the others had left, the Bailiff’s assistant came by and made us sign some papers. I don’t really get what that’s all about, but apparently it’s a local custom or something. We then headed out to start our new task: Find the kraken! I do think it’s pretty unlikely to find one on land but if it really is here, I for sure want to see it. I wonder if kraken tastes the same as squid? We talked to the forester’s apprentice who claimed he’d seen giant tentacles grabbing at him when he was out doing some work. He seemed like a complete idiot, but we went out to check the area where he was supposedly attacked. There was nothing really out of the ordinary there. Karu asked some squirrels if they had seen anything unusual, but they weren’t of much help either. Since it was early in the day and the boy had seen the creature at night, we decided to come back later and talk to the farmer with the missing sheep in the meantime. We immediately got lost in the woods and ended up scaring a farmer’s wife and her children half to death. Thankfully Fjarldt managed to restrain himself and did not eat the children, instead convincing the woman to give us some directions. I really hope we find the monster soon, I’m really curious what it will look like…
