Souls Campaign Session 12

General Summary

Session 12: 21-11-2025

The party starts in the tower in the middle of the Bendy Ways with Agdon and his buddy Ollie. They rest overnight and in the morning Chiki casts the Identify spell on the loot. In the morning they decide to go with the Haregons to the edge of the Bendy Ways. Agdon explains he is wanted in the town so it wouldn't be smart to go inside.

Swamp Diver Suit

ARMOR UNCOMMON MAGICAL Requires Attunement

A suit of studded leater with a strange frog like helmet. When worn it enables the wearer to breathe underwater for 1 hour, their swimspeed becomes equal to their walking speed and they can rise to the surface at will at 60 feet per round. While underwater they gain Darkvision 60 ft and can see clearly in murky water.

Boots of the Frog Knight

WONDROUS ITEM RARE MAGICAL Requires Attunement

These sturdy green leather boots grant the Frog Knight Leap and Frog Hop abilities when attuned to the item.   Frog Knight Leap. Once per turn, you can use a Magic Action to Frog Leap tripling your jump range and you can make an Unarmed or Melee Weapon Attack Action as part of the jump.   Frog Hop. When you jump you can bounce off the surface of water that's at least 1 foot deep for a maximum of three times.

They stop in front of the town and see two Bullywug guards barring the way into town. Ozzy, Chiki and Ghost approach the guards while Saruske climbs under wooden walkways past the gatehouse.
The guards are welcoming and are happy to have some visitors to the town. They explain the locations in the town, the palace of the king, the magic shop 'Trinket, Bauble and Charm' and the tourist attraction the Chattering Heads. The old balloon factory has burned down and the only working balloon in town is tethered to the top of Bavlorna's cottage.

Ghost and Saruske notice that sir Tavalar is in a cage suspended over the water. The guards tell them he was captured trying to steal the balloon from Bavlorna and the King threw him in jail. Ozzy casts Sleep on him to shut Tavalar up.

Meanwhile Saruske emerges inside and sees a large pond with lily pads in its center a Bullywug dressed in a Kimono with swords next to him. He introduces himself as Gamarin, the Sage of the Way of the Lily Pads and he studied with the Moon Emperor's Shinobi to learn the way of the Shadow Blade. Sensing the shadow powers inside Saruske he offers to train him in the Way of the Lily Pads.

The others go to the magic shop first and meet with the Darkling shopkeeper who offers them a deal for 1000 gp they can have a portable hole, a potion of gaseous form and 3 magical inks but they need to steal the head of the former king Lord Croaker XIII.

They join up with Saruske again and head off to the Chattering Heads. They see a row of four Bullywug heads and a small skull on wooden spikes, immediately they start chatting with party. Chiki takes the childs skull and goes inside his shield to check with Clapperjaw if this is his head. He recognises it and puts his skull back on causing a faint ghostly image to appear over the skull.

Saruske converses with one of the head of Croakette VII, murdered sister of the current king. She explains that during the succession the prince and princesses kill each other until one of them claims the throne. She was killed by poisoned needles in her tea while she backstabbed several other princes. Saruske wants to help her gain the throne back and kill current king and princess.

They proceed to the palace of the king and meet frog knights guarding the entrance. Inside they are announced although incorrectly by the head servant to the king. The king, Lord Croaker the Fourteenth of his name, King of Downfall, Baron of the Lily Pond, Supreme Commander of the Hopping Legion, Knight Exemplar of the Order of the Murk. And her royal highness Princess Hoppy, heir apparent and Master of the Murky Waters.

They learn that the Hag has cast a magical barrier around her cottage after sir Tavalar tried to break in. Princess Hoppy seems to be a normal human girl and seems to think she'll turn into a Bullywug someday. Ghost finds out that the palace is just a facade and are just some wooden walls built around a large pond.

Lord Croaker uses a magical scepter to call the hag and after a brief conversation with Ozzy she decides to let them enter the cottage to negotiate with her.

They set out to the cottage of Bavlorna and see a tall pointed structure floating above a lake of deep impenetrable mist. At the top of the structure a balloon has been tethered made from a patchwork of coloured cloth with a basket shaped like a tea kettle.

Saruske find out that he can use his new Frog Hop ability to bounce across the mist to the cottage in the sky. Ghost tests to see if there is a bottom to the fog but is not able to find it. Everyone loads into the shield and Saruske puts it on his back and he hops onto the platform at the front of the door. They peek into the windows while Ozzy and Ghost stride inside however the hag knows everyone is there.

The hag talks about the king and ruling this realm. She has been quietly pulling the strings that makes the kingdom run and has offered a deal to Princess Hoppy, bring her fathers head and she'll make her a Bullywug so she can be queen. Also she already made a deal with Hoppy before trading her blood for a friend, the enchanted baby crocodile. She wants them to travel to the realm of Skabatha and steal her cauldron but Ozzy feels like there is more to the story. He puts one and two together and figures out that the cauldrons are Iggwilv's cauldron split into three pieces.

Eventually they try to ambush the hag but she disappears leaving them with an empty place.
