01: Welcome to Stagspire Report

General Summary

Three people on their own paths find themselves in Stagspire for the Day of Yteus, a festival of the summer solstice. They meet during a contest to eat the most Sun Buns, the local treat associated with this festival. Eglath (currently known as Tannar) quickly hits it off with Phyrra and the two decide to explore the festival together. They come across an event where they watch a goliath woman knock a man off a pole and call for a new challenger. Arveith takes up the challenge and defeats her, then Tannar and Phyrra before being bested by the captain of the guard, Wulf Bjornson. Tannar buys Arveith a drink and the three carry on to explore more of the festival. They stop by a fortuneteller and she draws three cards for each of them. The Devil, the reversed Lovers, and the Wheel of Fortune for Tannar. The Chariot, the reversed World, and reversed Justice for Phyrra. The Hierophant, reversed Temperance, and reversed Lovers for Arveith. They next watch Arveith take on the caber toss, easily besting the first log and taking on a bet to throw an even larger log, though the gambler didn't actually have the money. Arveith took his enormous log to Igor's Fantastical Woodworks to be made into 4 small sculptures, he has a week to pick them up. Last stop at the festival was the archery and dagger throwing competitions in the park. Tannar meets Sigrid there, who loses an archery contest to him and is revealed to be the daughter of the owner of the Northern Merchant's Pub. A dagger throwing contest is had before the festival scatters due to an incoming storm and our trio finds their way to the Northern Merchant's Pub.   At the Northern Merchant's Pub, they are reunited with Sigrid and Sonya, the one armed goliath woman Arveith had bested at Two Poles. They have a conversation with an enthusiastic half elven man named Elben, who is nose deep in notes and stories from the Wastes. Arveith has a drink with Sonya, Tannar flirts with Sigrid, and Phyrra schedules a meeting with Ildra.   The next day, Phyrra has her meeting with Ildra. They discuss opening trade with Osysedorei. When Phyrra reveals she has come from the Hollow Mountains, Ildra expresses an interest in selling magical items. Out in the main area of the pub, a cloaked figure sets a music box on the counter. As the music comes to a stop, the man disappears and a planar rift opens in the room, causing the air to go deathly cold. Swarms of frostmites fly out of the rift before Arveith destroys the box keeping it open. Sigrid is knocked unconscious by the frostmites before they are defeated by the trio with the help of Sonya and Elben. Sigrid grows cold and the flesh around her joints begins to blacken, Phyrra recognizes it as the Black Chills, which can only be healed through high level magic or special herbs from the plane of fire. Ildra offers payment if the group will go to the Wastes and find these herbs. She suggests meeting Belladonna Burnbone, who she believes will either have the herbs or know exactly where to find them. We leave off the session with the group making preparations to leave for the Wastes tomorrow, the 17th of Aukian.
