Out Of The Frying Pan and Into Hell

General Summary

  • The party started out behind the waterfall in the ritual room with the corpses of both friend and foe strewn about.
  • Elyndor, Jade, and Jade^2 lie dead on the floor with the Harvester falling back to its shadow form before compressing into a marble of shadow.
  • Morgan stepped out to continue on the way to the Sanctuary in the Spider Forest and locked eyes with a Duergar who went wide eyed and began to shimmy on back the way he came from.
  • Morgan retreated back into the room to see Hearth and Daggoss discussing about the twitching and bleeding with Jade^2's body.
  • Hearth goes to interact and is bitten on the arm by Jade's imp.
  • Morgan punts it into the wall as thunder shakes the room around them. The imp is dead.
  • Jade^2's body rises as everyone is on the defensive.
  • Jade^2 explains he's regular old Jade who went to hell and re-negotiated his deal with his devil to assume control over this body.
  • The party keeps an eye on him as they move beyond the ritual room and back out to the oversight of the Lake.
  • It's cold and dreary as ash continues to fall, blurring the lines between night and day.
  • Daggoss notices Goblins and Sahuagin arguing by the lake shore with some other goblins fishing on the dock as well as the Duergar seeming like he's trying to get their attention.
  • In the middle of the lake he also notices some bubbles rising from the depths emitting steam when they pop, much akin to how a thermal vent would except much more frequent and abnormal.
  • The party moves in stealthily on Baelor's forces as Giant Spiders from the Spider Forest ambush the goblins and sahuagin.
  • The Duergar can be seen hiding behind the sahuagin for cover, still trying to get their attention to no avail.
  • Morgan sneaks up on the poor Duergar and decapitates him in 2 swings of his glaive. Alerting the Sahuagin to his presence.
  • The rest of the party follows suit in combat.
  • Shortly after 4 phase spiders make their presence known as they assail the forces of Baelor and seem to have an indifferent disposition towards the party.
  • The combat ends with fatalities on both sides of the battle.
  • A mental ping occurs in the partys minds. Its some sort of mother to the spiders of the forest. A queen. Proposing peace and alliance against Baelor and his transgressors in exchange for an expansion.
  • She proposes that details can be descerned at a later date as she has pressing matters to deal with.
  • The party agrees and the spiders flee into the forest carrying their new food with them.
  • The party makes it to the Sanctuary as they're met first with Dusk, and a new face to the party: Captain Beidou Nortaraptor.
  • Dusk wants to leave back to the Fey Wild and go home away from all this crazy nonsense, stating the drow and by extension the party owe him a favor for saving their asses and escorting the civilians of the haven to the Sanctuary.
  • Syla interrupts and discusses with the party what will happen in the following day after Daggoss tells him the rune configuration for their use of the teleportation circles.
  • Syla thanks each of them.
  • Dusk also proposes taking Larynder back to his care. Hearth asks Larynder what he wants and Larynder counters by asking what they're doing to return him back to his pixie form.
  • Hearth concedes after hearing that and hands over Larynder.
  • Dusk consumes Larynder and vanishes back to the Fey Wild.
  • Seraphina also approaches the party and thanks them for showing up. With her arm still broken and her visage looking tired and beaten she explains how she hasnt had much rest since leaving the Tree behind as she's been taking care of the people every way she can.
  • The party concludes their conversations and get some rest after a long and hard fought day.
  • Morning comes and Syla thanks everyone once again. This time in his bear form, as he leads the civilians towards the teleportation circle at Serpent's Veil Lake.
  • The party themselves head off towards the Obsidian Quarry to obtain their Titaniumite for the Aetherium Spire's defenses.
  • The party encounters a lone Dwarf at a beaten down shack with a minecart on the outside on the tracks.
  • Dribble is his name and he explains to the party that the Quarry is no safe haven. People being dragged against their will down into the mine and their blood curdling screams.
  • He offers little more than that before retreating inside the hut.
  • Beidou sends her familiar out to scout the scene. Scoping out a sign of what seemed to be an instantaneous slaughter of the workers working away at the Quarry.
  • Blood splatters and streaks of blood signifying bodies being dragged across the cold Earth of the quarry.
  • Pickaxes left in unmined ore and dirt. An eerie silence across the land.
  • The party proceeds to the quarry with caution, Morgan throwing an axe at a cart wheel hitting the metal of the wheels sending a clang throughout the air that rings.
  • The party sends more familiars out to scout the mine entrance as one goblin comes out of the entrance eyeballing the surroundings and whispering to someone or something back in the mine entrance.
  • Beidou sends in her bat familiar and gets a visual of 4 goblins sitting around a table playing cards and another figure chained up against a wall leading further into the mine.
  • Beidou walks forward to engage the goblins.
  • Combat begins as Beidou is charged at by the goblins.
  • The first one strikes as Daggoss reacts with a prepared cast of shatter.
  • Panic ensues amongst the goblins as they begin to yell at each other.
  • Combat swiftly ends with them as the party pushes on into the entrance of the mine encountering the chained up humanoid creature known as a boneclaw.
  • The party engages it whilst it's still chained to the wall and scrapes out a victory over it.
  • What more awaits them in this horrid place?
