The Temple of Tyrak
General Summary
The Mistwardens Matrim Harperly , Thane Swiftglade and @corb met at the Laughing Axe Inn in Oakminster. Having decided to take the job that looked the most profitable, the band first sealed the deal with Bartleby Longfellow, negotiating the offered amount up by 5 gold per person. Bartleby shared a map to the ruined Temple of Tyrak, where he requested they find an old family heirloom of his - a bronze candelabra. Their route took them through one of the famous oak woods surrounding the town, where they were set upon by wild rats. Thane torched most of them quickly, with a stray fire bolt burning Martrim’s backside. Meanwhile the bard and Corbyn the Ranger (with the help of Gerald, his raven) dealt with the remaining critters. Having crossed a raging river successfully, the party took a well earned rest. Only to be woken by a goblin howling in pain. Matrim quickly spotted that this would be a trap but that didn’t stop Thane going to see if he could help. As soon as the deception was revealed, Matrim whispered a dissonant spell that caused the goblin’s head to explode as the rest of its gang jumped from the bushes. Scorching rays, flying ravens and clouds of daggers ensued until all goblins were turned to ex-goblins (apart from the one that ran away). All that was left now was to investigate the ruined temple, and inside they found a hall of statues. Statues that were once other adventurers, all turned to stone by… a Basilisk! Thane distracted the basilisk with an illusion just long enough for the gang to dash in, grab as many relics as they could and make it back to the village. There, they met with Gideon Ironheart who, wanting to get one over on the competition, wrote a letter claiming he would pay 50GP for one of the relics the party had recovered. One made of silver and clearly a holy symbol to the followers of Tyrak. Armed with this note, the party returned to Bartleby Longfellow, gave over the candelabra, earned their 15GP each and a lifetime 10% discount in his store. …and 50GP for the holy silver relic.
