Skrizzle’s Sea Food
General Summary
There is a notice on the board inviting the Mistwardens to Skrizzle’s Sea Food – a restaurant on the docks that serves some of the best fish in the region; with a twist. Skrizzle is a prodigious goblin chef, one who has combined traditional common dishes with goblin ingenuity and spices to create a destination eatery in Oakminster. The party decide to visit, where they find a bustling restaurant. They are seated at a table and then, without warning, Skrizzle bursts from the kitchen into the restaurant yelling at everyone to leave! They’re being attacked! Behind him slither out some Sahuagin, who start attacking the customers. The party are compelled to intervene. However, when they defeat each of the Sahuagin, a strange thing happens. They transform into human sailors. Once the sahuagin are all dead, a search of the now-human bodies will revealed one with a diary in their pocket talking about how the crew had helped a mermaid. Skrizzle asked the party to investigate, suggesting they go to the warden’s office to see about any other reports of recent ship dockings or attacks. Captain Reginald “Reggie” Fitzwilliam., the warden of Oakminster and dockamster says all paperwork was in order, he remembers it being brought to him by a woman. Female first mate of the Poppy Rose, can have a look in his records – finds the name Nyssa Reynolds. The party decide to investigate the ship and find the decks deserted but showing no signs of struggle or distress. It's only when they start to investigate the cabins that they see seaweed growing from the walls, a cold, evil breeze blowing and signs of a struggle. Almost as if they are stepping into a different, rotten world and the deck is just an illusion. Then, in one of the cabins they find a scared young woman, holding a trident to fend the party off through fear. That is until Matrim Harperly reads her surface level thoughts and instead of fear detects anger and annoyance. Before he can act on it though, another fearsom Sahuagin leaps from the sea and onto the deck, attacking the party. It's during the fight that the young woman reveals herself to be Melusine Darkfin, a dangerous sea hag! Thankfully, the party is able to defeat her and when they do, the fearsome Sahuagin transforms back into the Captain of the Poppy Rose, who remembers nothing. The Mistwardens explain what has happened and the Captain asks about his first mate - Robert Petchson. At which point the crew realise that Nyssa was Melusine's alter-ego and had deceived the dockmaster! Thankful for saving him, the Captain showed the party his treasure chest, which was full of gold. A search of Melusine's body revealed a Wand of Polymorph which had been used to transform the crew and the ship.
