Session 46: Doll Hunting

General Summary

After leaving Granny Barrowbye's accommodation, the group decide it's time to rest up.

When they split up, Arne is lying in bed for up to an hour and hears the door to Arne's old room opening, and decides to check it. He sees something disappearing out the window and chooses to follow.

Following it up an alleyway he surprises a cat hiding in an overgrowth with it shooting between his legs in the direction of the new part of town. Where it was hiding he finds a vial of poison. He finds some local Burgeaters and hands it over to them warning them he encountered the cat and some strange goings on. Then he heads back to bed.

An hour or two later, Magnar & Anselma is lying in bed and he hears a disturbance out the back. Looking out he sees two chickens have been killed.

Going outside, he finds that both have had a thin small blade has been used to cut the throats of both. One of them has the cut tampered with, and a capital A scrawled in the dirt behind it. Rushing back in he finds Owle drunk in bed with a cider bottle beside the bed. Then runs to Anselma. There he finds the door slightly opened, and when pushed open an arrow flies past his head. Anselma is in the room hiding behind the bed and with her longbow. Something had tried to open the door and when he looks there is an exceptionally small bloody handprint on the outside of the door.

Collecting Owle they make their way over to Arne's getting him up and both explain what has happened. Deciding that the safest place is the church, they make their way there while Owle is over Magnar's shoulder, proceeding to fart and mumble about the female toddler & chickens.

Getting close to it, they are confronted with a number of Burgeater guards at the church. Rikard is one of them and tells them that Edward the Monk has been killed. He had the back of the knees stabbed, and his eyes stabbed by thin blades. Turns out Bjorn's body was being tended to by Edward, who was seriously ill but killed the same way an hour or two before then.

Leaving Owle and Anselma there, they run round to Archi, who has already found that Hilda has had two more spiders supplied by Chuckie before they arrived.

Both kick the door down and rush in terrifying Archi, Hilda and Edwardo.

Arne summons a Shadow Mastiff that starts sniffing round before going upstairs to the top where Archi keeps his private bedroom / storeroom, a dining and a general living room at the front. The shadow mastiff ends up being killed by unseen blades by the entrance to the living room.

Arne sets fire to the bedroom using the candles and fireplace making smoke to pour out. After a second or two by the dining room, he decides to cast a spell to break the Invisibility spell Chuckie is using to hide.

He gets a shock as Archi screams that Chuckie is right behind Arne ready to stab him in the knees. Chuckie runs off to the living room and is followed by Magnar. Arne by that stage has vortex warped himself to behind Archi.

Magnar & Archi starts choking on the smoke from the fire, and all three have their sight knocked down to about 30 feet.

Magnar gets into a fight with Chuckie, and the others have to move up to be able to see Chuckie as she shadow jumped to an angle out of their sight. Chuckie starts to stab the crap out of Magnar while the others use magic to try to slow her down and help Magnar. Arne also tries to cast a wall of force that is counter spelled by Chuckie. He does get spell off top slow Chuckie down and Archi gets a lightning bolt off.

Eventually Magnar gets the last killing blow on Chuckie, killing her and stopping the threat of the Master of the Bladed Pouch, before being dragged out by the other two, being severely injured.

Edwardo, Hilda and her spiders have already escaped the burning building and have gone for help. A couple of guards have separated Hilda and her spiders to stop anything happening to them or anyone else.

Granny Barrowbye stops by, and with the help of Archi & Arne, casts a spell to call up heavy rain on the inside of the house to get the fires out.

Archi is left with a building needing heavy repair.

Reolus arrives giving them bags of money for killing the Master of the Bladed Pouch once and for all, and taking the remains of Chuckie in a bag.
