Session 47: Smoking Some Weed

General Summary

The party gets up and meets up at the Eschbach Shields. There they sort out some of the treasure they brought back from southern Britain.

Baldwin comes up to them asks if they are going to the funerals that morning and that they may be offered some work. Archi is all for it feeling guilty about Chuckie & to get extra money if possible. He has to pay for the damage to the apothecary, and will cost him 150 gold.

They attend Bjorn's first in the Grove where his remains are placed on a pyre. Then they go to the church for Edward's where his remains are took out and buried in the graveyard. Bjorn's remains are buried on the outside of the graveyard.

Duke Fyrwin approaches and Archi is told to do whatever he wants with Countess Gabrielle de Rais. He warns Archi she is dangerous and it will probably end badly for him. He mentions that the Goblins in Gitzburg have information about a potential job.

The party takes their horses down to Gitzburg and leaves the horses there. They are offered a few Goblin militia as a backup if needed for this.

There is hunters, woodsmen and travellers report that there is plant life playing up around an old set of standing stones overgrown in the the forest. They are to check it out.

They aren't needed, and the party heads south in a little travelled path.

When passing under a set of vines hanging from a tree, these try to wrap themselves around him. Failing to do so, Timble takes a look and remembers that it is Stranglevine, a rare plant found in the world and the Feywild.

Travelling on down they come across animal paths and one of them has scat & scratch markings. These seem to show that something cat-like is in the area.

Seeing the bluish-green light emanating from the south.

Making it down there is overgrown standing stones, and the altar. There is something on the altar giving of the light. They notice a space leading up to the altar in the undergrowth and get round to it. Two bushes starts screaming, and is followed by a cat-like call from the north.

Timble gets helped up and grabs what is obviously a crystal. On it's base is a Sylvan mark for "Wolf". They surmise that it is the mark of Adalwolf. There is a mark on the altar where the crystal is sitting and is sore on the eye. It is unknown and Archi uses paper & charcoal to get a rubbing.

Making themselves back, Arne is jumped by a Displacer Beast. Timble jumps in the way and communicates with it. He finds out that it was needing food, as it has a cub with her. He finds out that a creature had placed the crystal on the altar and warned that the Goblins in Gitzburg are known hunters. It goes off south.

They collect their horses, helping them to bring in the remains of a caravan from Orleans. The caravan occupiers were driven off.

They get back to Eschbach and plan to go to the Eschbach Shields. Before they go they then decide to go to Granny Barrowbye, who they run into Granny, Hans, Greta and baby Jacob.

Timble approaches her waving the crystal and she appears terrified almost dropping her disguise.

She has seen this before, and yes it belongs to Adalwolf. It is used to make a connection to the Dark Fey realm and bring through other Dark Fey. She is also shown the rubbing Archi took and it is the marking of a Star Spawn Seer that would occasionally work with Adalwolf. She also confirms that the crystal is made out of the tears of the Gnomes from the same burrows Timble was originally from.

They are told that if it is used or destroyed, and she doesn't want to go near it, as this would attract the gaze of Adalwolf and potentially the Star Spawn Seer.

They decide to hide it somewhere safe, and Arne thinks of the sealed room in the Shadowfell. He uses the sphere got from the body of the Master of the Bladed Pouch.

Placing it on the ground it opens a tear to the Shadowfell, where Arne lifts a pouch of 100 gold. Placing the crystal on the rough table, he hears a voice. The female voice calls him a good servant and he can use the room once more to retrieve the crystal, and that she will examine it herself being interested in the magic used in it. The purpose is to cause problems i n the area.

Not sure exactly who she is, Arne suspects that it is the Raven Queen.

Hiding the small indentation that is left after he leave, Arne meets up with the others. There they commiserate with the others over the deaths and Mikael Andolf asks them if they sorted out the stuff with the Goblins. They explain that the problem is sorted and the crystal is out of the picture in the meantime. He warns them that there are plenty of Ravens and Hooded Crows now in the area.

They suspect it's Adalwolf using the Baobhan Sith to spy and may make a move to probe the defences of the town. The crystal had the same purpose.

Timble goes to his room and gets surprised by a raven in the room, and he drives it off. Arne & Archi notices a number around the town looking in their direction.

Arne speculates that a Counter Spell or equivalent may cause the Baobhan Sith to stop changing. Looking into it, he finds it wouldn't work as it's an inbuilt ability to them.

Then he ends up in bed, with no dolls but plenty of spiders to eat & burn.
