Session 19: Onwards To Death!!! Report

General Summary

Archi & Alice are pottering round town waiting on the others (Arne hiding with his cloak & Magnar still severely hungover). Looking for something to do in the meantime, Archi talks to the locals. They will give the guys 10 gold each to deliver a bag of garlic down to the town of Okssyton and the local Burgomeister called Vicktor. This would be on the way to the valley / cave where the Hag is.   Taking it up, both leave as message for the rest of the party to let them know where the two are heading.   Going down to the south east, they talk about Hags and eventually come across a crossroads. There is a strange fuberal happening. A Slavic priest & group of men are standing there, and a body wrapped in cloth lies beside a 4 foot deep hole. They eventaully put the body (with a buldge on either side of the left chest), face down in the grave. They pour a bag of uncooked rice into the grave, put some earth in, a layer of stones, and then finally cover it over in dirt.   Walking on with the group Archi speaks to them and is told that the whole process of the funeral is to the possibility of the body coming back as undead. It body was of someone who was drained of blood, so has beein staked and buried face down so it'll would dig the wrong way. Also the rice and stones would force them to spend time counting them instead of trying to get out.   They pass round a small bottle of alcohol and Archi takes a small sip, and Alice refuses. They're told where to go in town to see Viktor.   They get to the southern part of the main marketplace, and stopped by a guard outside Viktor's house. They are checked out and the guard knocks the door, and it is opened by a young woman dressed in a green & red dress. She beckons them in and leads them to a room where Viktor is sitting behind a desk near a fireplace.   They get an extra 10 gold out of it, and told that half the garlic is going to be planted locally and the rest used for different purposes. They can stay the night, and do a spot of shopping the following day to get some items. Both are after a few minor magic related bits & pieces and there is a shop run by an elderly couple who are hedge wizards selling general goods & minor magic bits & bobs.   During the night, Alice plays a prank on Archi by contacts ravens in the area to see if one can break in through the window to the room and set of the alarms he placed. One seems to be slightly different to the rest and manages to break in. YThis sets of the alarm by the window, and then sets off the alarm outside the magic hut Archi is sleeping in.   Archi gets a shock though, as it is no raven but a Baobhan Sith, and it glamours him to a degree. Trying to get near him to kiss him and saying that she wants to feel his warmth inside him. Fighting against the urges, Archi sets off a Fireball pretty much on himself at the front of himself.   He injures her causing her to flees jumping out the window. This also alters Alice who comes running into the room. Alice gets a rather tragic scene.   Archi was too close t othe fireball and didn't move out of the way. Lying there he is dead from it, being deeply burned head-on down his front. The clothes are pretty much burned off him and thankfully most of his other items were shielded by his body.   Alice quickly tries to use medicine on him, getting a bit of life back into him with enough vitality from goodberries, and a long rest to get him out of the critical period.   Still crispy and in pain the following morning they assess the situation, amd Alice shops for some clothes for Archi. Returning Archi gets dressed, and presented with a new spell book for Archi if he needs it, and it is one where it is harder to destroy though still possible.   After that they go to the local hedge wizards where Alice gets some spell ingredients and 10 arrows with silver arrowheads that may be of use sometime somewhere. Archi gives up a lump of jade for a Bag of Holding. They are both told that if they are going through again, to send a message ahead if they want anything else and the hedge wizards will see what they can do for when they return.   Both decide to travel onwards, and Alice collects some magic mushrooms. Both travel on seeing Warsaw to the wsouth and eventually get down to the south east and the entrance to the valley. They notice that most of the trees and larger bushes are missing from the valley leaving it primarily easy t osee. They have picked up from rumours etc, that the main path runs down the centre of the valley and a path runs off to the cave.   At the same time there is many different votive tokens hanging and set up at the entrance to the valley. The cave will be marked with similar markings but in purple.
