Session 1: Shadows over Minroe

General Summary

In the shadow of the Stormhorns, a new chapter begins for a group of unlikely heroes drawn together by fate and circumstance. Solas, the Aasimar Cleric, is haunted by a vision of a prison made of thorns, a harbinger of the trials to come. Dofaroc, known to friends as Bob, a stout-hearted Dwarf, waits in the lobby of Lord Humbolt's manor, soon to be joined by Colmir, a Druid of his kin; Lucky Lyle, a Halfling Bard with a knack for captivating performances; Shadow, a mysterious Half-Elf Warlock; and Solas, each bringing their unique skills and destinies to the fore. Their meeting is abruptly interrupted as Lord Humbolt himself is hurled through the door, victims of an assassination attempt. A swift response from the party and the sword captain of the Purple Dragons quickly subdues the attackers. Grateful, Lord Humbolt extends his thanks and offers the newly formed group a choice: embark on their original quest to investigate the eerie silence from the mines or race against the Purple Dragons to uncover the masterminds behind the attack. Choosing to pursue both leads, the party sets out into the village. Solas seeks wisdom at the damaged Church of Helm, while the rest gather at The Rusty Pick, a local tavern where tales of hard times and shifting fates are as common as ale. Lucky's deft knife work and flute performance earn them both coin and the fleeting adoration of the tavern's patrons, yet yields little in their quest for answers. Their investigation leads them to the talented yet unconventional tailor, Borin Oakfist, who identifies the assailants' clothes as the work of Stykos, a renowned tailor owned by the Seven Suns Trading Coster. With this clue in hand, they venture to the Crossroads, another local tavern, where Lyle's musical prowess again takes center stage, alas enquiries about missing people leads nowhere. Giving up at the crossroads, the party moved to the sleeping encampment of the Seven Suns, distracting guards and allowing for a covert exploration of the Seven Suns' camp. Despite the risk, their foray into the darkness tells them that, this is where the seven suns sleep and rest for the night, but clearly their work is elsewhere, where they build their warehouses. As night falls over Minroe, the party finds rest, pondering the tangled web of intrigue they've stumbled upon. Why target Humbolt, whose death would only bring another appointed by local nobility? Why don such fine attire from the Seven Suns for a deed so dark? And amidst the gravity of their quest, why does Solas struggle with pockets? In the quiet of the night, these questions linger, promising a journey filled with danger, discovery, and the possibility of a destiny greater than any had imagined. As dawn breaks, they know their paths are irrevocably entwined with the fate of Minroe and beyond.
