Session 9: Keeper Marek

General Summary

The party, bruised and battered but victorious, turned their attention to the fallen figure they had believed to be Keeper Marek.

Instead however, of the elderly elf they expected, the lifeless form before them was that of a light-blue tiefling, the javelin still protruding from their throat. The tiefling’s sharp, angular features were frozen in an expression of shock and anger, their true identity now exposed. It was clear that this was no mere servant of the church, but an imposter sent by its fiendish master to deceive and manipulate, but with the appearance of plague rats, whom some in the party wondered if it showed a link to the Harbinger of Pestilence.. could be some form of demonic and unseelie alliance?

As they searched the body, the party discovers a few intriguing items. First, they found a striking ring on one of the tiefling’s fingers—an ornate, pearlescent band inscribed with delicate elvish runes that seemed to shimmer in the dim light. The craftsmanship was exquisite, and it was clear that the ring held some form of magic, though its exact properties remained a mystery.

Next, they found a leather drawstring pouch tucked into the tiefling’s belt. It was an unassuming, well-worn pouch, but when one of the party members opened it, they found nothing inside. Instead of seeing the bottom of the pouch, they were greeted by a black void—an empty, depthless space that seemed to absorb all light. Its true nature unknown without further examination.

Finally, tied by a string to the pouch was a strange key, small and ornate, with intricate runes etched into its surface. The key glows faintly.
