Session 8: After Destruction
General Summary
In the last session, the party were faced with the aftermath of the defeated the Harbinger of Destruction, helping to bring some semblance of peace to the town in the aftermath. Among the survivors, Baroness Krell invited the group to Humboldt's Manor. She had arrived in town to oversee the auction of the land surrounding the newly opened pass in the Stormhorn Mountains to the northwest
While waiting for the meeting at the manor, the party took on a few odd jobs. Dofaroc, guided by a vision, visited his family home to retrieve a mysterious weapon that may or may not have belonged to his quote father quote.' Meanwhile, Lucky spent some time pestering the town's drunken blacksmith, Gunthar, who initially demanded 200 gold for a chainmail shirt made from melted-down hobgoblin plate armor. After some back and forth, they finally agreed on the modifications Lucky wanted.
The group then made use of an enchanted banner they had found in Melkerech's study. With its help, they rested at the local tavern, allowing both themselves and the tavern's patrons (who found themselves sobering up far faster than they expected that afternoon) to fully recover from their recent battles.
At Humboldt's Manor, the party attended a meeting with Baroness Krell. Recognizing their role in saving the town and their strength in standing against the Harbingers, she declared them the de facto Council of Minroe. This honor came with the support of the Krell Dynasty and, seemingly, the backing of the Merchant Costers present.
Later, the party turned their attention to Melsrest Chapel of Helm, where they confronted the old priest, Keeper Marek. Lucky, always sharp-eyed, noticed an income ledger revealing that Marek had collected over 700 gold, despite his constant claims of being short of the 200 gold needed to repair the church roof and grounds after the recent devastation. Exposed and humiliated, Marek retreated to his room, crawling away in disgrace.
As the party left the chapel, they were ambushed by Felicia Glanend and her family in a narrow alley. Felicia attempted to intimidate them, but the party stood their ground, convincing her to back off. With that threat behind them, they returned to Humboldt's Manor to spend the night, and discussed the corruption of Marek to the Baroness. Lucky expresses his wish to check on his family and makes arrangements to visit there and return as soon as possible.
With the first building projects for Minroe started, a refugee camp is now available in the North East on the new northern road towards the pass that the Seven Suns have been working on.
South of Melsrest a large barn is being erected as a Large Granary to take in additional food from local lands and trade that will support a much larger population.
The older Halfling servant Ula arrives and requests Solas presence, that a visitor from Suzail's Church of Helm has arrived, and Solas begs pardon to meet with them.
Solas leaves,
