Session 7: The Harbinger of Destruction

General Summary

Upon leaving the trial rooms, the party found themselves in the midst of a siege at the underground warehouse of the Seven Suns. Despite the chaos, the situation was under control. Amidst the turmoil, they encountered Baroness Krell, an important noblewoman who had taken refuge there. She later surprised everyone by demonstrating formidable druidic powers.

Tallisen Modren met with Holfast Riverthorn, an antiquities dealer and father of Lisbet. Despite Holfast's affiliation with House Skatterhawk, he appeared to be conducting business directly with the senior envoy. Tallisen was there to negotiate the acquisition of memory keys, a deal that had been progressing until it was discovered that the existing memory key had been stolen. Given Lucky's previous attempt to steal it, he was the prime suspect.

As Lucky was being interrogated, Lisbet recognized him and called out to him. However, their reunion was brutally interrupted when the Harbinger of Destruction arrived, shattering the barricade and impaling Lisbet before dragging her through the debris. In a desperate bid to save her, Lucky charged in, igniting a fierce battle with the Harbinger and its army of thornspawn, briarbound thralls, and various fey monstrosities.

The fight was immediately one-sided as the Harbinger seemed invincible. In a moment of desperation, Dofaroc drank a potion of cloud giant strength, managing to halt the Harbinger's advance. Meanwhile, Solas, driven by a hunch that the artifact found by Holfast was crucial, used the quill of Melkerech to activate it. The box revealed itself to be a Modron, which Solas promptly interrogated. The Modron, a companion of Melkerech, revealed that healing magic would severely harm the Harbinger of Destruction.

Armed with this new knowledge, the party began healing the Harbinger, inflicting immense damage while it writhed in agony under a holy moonbeam. Dofaroc, now imbued with immense strength, delivered a series of devastating blows, including a clothesline and a DDT, further weakening the Harbinger. As the Harbinger fell, the remaining briarbounds attempted to flee but were spectacularly destroyed by the warehouse survivors. In a final, dramatic move, Dofaroc launched Colmir, who was in bear form, onto the last briarbound aberration, crushing it.

With the battle over, Lucky rushed to Lisbet's side, desperately attempting to revive and heal her. The rest of the party gathered around the slowly burning remains of the Harbinger of Destruction, which left behind only its skull, a strange amalgamation of metal and vines.
