Supporting Cast
  • Abeforthe
Sturdily built captain of the royal guard. Cousin to the Princeps. Distrusting of walking folk.
  • Princeps Acendent Alcyonacea Yisea
She is young for a ruler, especially a merfolk ruler of this city as the royal family has been extraordinarily long lived. She took the throne upon her mother's death in a scouting expedition a year ago. Caught between youthful curiosity, partially processed grief, and a deire to uphold her mother's legacy the Princeps feels the weight of ruling heavily.
  • Aurum
Aurum is confident and cunning -- and not at all interested in hiding it from anyone who speaks to them. They draw out their words and lace them with double meaning, taking as much space as possible both with their gestures and their sheer presence. They have an exaggerated, cocky way of moving their body when they talk, and a certain performativity to all they do, but that shiny veneer is replaced with cold, hard calculation and short, cutting sentences when talking business.
  • Gwabbo the Shipsmith
He became head ship-smith a year before large boats stopped passing by. He has heard tell of terrible storms and unintelligibly psychic screeches from the last sailors he spoke to. He will know that Krackens are usually deviously intelligent if you speak abyssal.

Session II: The Princeps' Palace

After a strange kraken attack, you managed to escape to the shore of this Isle. Near the beach where you landed is a merfolk city filled with bight lights, creative craftsmanship, curious people, a large palace, and an old shipyard.   Our stranded stragglers have made something of a scene selling searingly cold tentacle meet in the shadow of the Princeps' Palace. The Princeps favor may be the easiest way to secure a boat & passage off the Isle.

Adventures in Playing Pirates Session 0

The island, previously cosmopolitan and prosperous, has not had visitors in years. About a decade ago ships (especially those carrying lots of gold) started to disappear when sailing past. Odd events, elemental storms, and rumors of an ancient monster of the deep.   The pirate fleet of the Golden Carvers was forced back to the water surrounding the Isle by an ambitious, pirate-hunting admiral. Rumors are that the Isle is bad luck for the crew, last time they were here they lost their previous leader and a good number of crew.
