Session 11 - The Battle of Dragonrest

General Summary

While still docked at Corsair Cove, the party decided to hire one more crew member, a dhampir named Kromak who was skilled in the arcane. He was appointed as the ship's Arcanist.   Not long after hiring Kromak there was some commotion on the docks and the party spotted a Shenganese Junk Ship sailing into the cove. It appeared to be a naval ship as its flag was marked with The Five Arrows.   It was no longer crewed by the Shenganese navy however and instead was being sailed by a crew of corsairs. It seemed the ship had been encountered by one of the pirate lords, The Scaled Shadow, who decided to attack it and claim it as a prize.   Listening in on a conversation between The Cove Keeper and The Scaled Shadow the party learned of an increase of Shenganese ships sailing in Bloodmar in recent weeks though this was the first known sighting of an naval vessel.   Once the activity in the docks died back down the party returned to their trip and set out sailing through empire waters looking for some suitable ships to engage in a spot of piracy. During this sail they ended up stumbling across a small uncharted isle which appeared to have a ruined fort on it. Upon getting closer to the island it was also found to be the home of a large dragon skeleton.   An anti-magic field hung in the air around the fort and upon inspecting the fort it was revealed to have once been occupied by Arch-Techs. A floating gem inside the fort, which was clearly an Arch-Tech creation based in some way on their power cores, was the source of the anti-magic field.   Kromak was able to force a spark of his warlock powers into the gem which must have reacted somehow with the anti-magic energy as it caused the gem to shatter. This brought down the anti-magic field.   As soon as the anti-magic field drop however it was discovered that the dragon skeleton was not a simple corpse. It was actually an undead dragon which had been disabled by the anti-magic field and was now beginning to reawaken.   A battle with the dragon soon ensued with the crew on the ship and the party on the island. During the battle Scurvy died only to be resurrected by Tatiana and her strange magic. Arturus climbed on the dragon's back to make it possible to fight it with his sword.   Red using his Sea-Stone Blade managed to stun the beast with a dispel magic, interrupting the necrotic powers keeping it alive for a few moments. This gave Butcher the chance to take it down with a fly by firebolt.   The head of the beast was mounted to Crann Céadair as a figurehead and the party claimed the fort for themselves, naming the island Dragonrest.
