Session 1: The Force of the Grave Walkers Report

General Summary

The party woke up on a boat as they were shipped off to the island of Aqua. Each of them was going to be a part of the storming party that would be tasked with taking the island. The entire storming party was split into groups of three, each told that if they made it to the town hall of the island first they would be granted freedom from their service or a promotion if they would rather stay in the army. As they prepared to land on the island, they were approached by the halfling Gauntlet Quartermaster, Brianna who gave the group the gifts given to them by their anonymous sponsor. After recieving the equipment, there was a target on the back of the party and one group of three walked up asking if the party would be willing to team up with them, giving them a part of the reward if they stormed the village first.    The party agreed to work with them even though there was a slight clash of personalities between them. The other adventurers advised that the six of them took the long way around the village and to the southern enterance where there would be significantly less defenses. As they stormed the island there were ballista shots taking out commoners that were fighting with the party. The party and their allies went through the forest, avoiding most of the Aqua forces. They avoided some traps but while their guards were down, the rival adventurers revealed that they were using the party as a meat shield and knock the party unconscious besides Lacrosse who they instead just slash the heels of.    Lacrosse helped Mortimer and Barack back to their feet but the group was immediately captured by a group of Grave Walkers. When they woke up they were in a dark cell in a old stronghold similar to ancient Ultribar architecture. In the cell across from them, the rival party that betrayed them is locked up and looks beaten, unlike the PCs they must have fought back against the party. The PCs notice tremors of magic coursing through the stronghold. They successfully pull the cell door open since the metal and lock had aged over time becoming brittle.    As they left the rivals begged the party to break them out as well, saying they will help as much they can. After going down the hall, Barack pulled Mortimer off of an pulse mine trap saving him from taking damage. However it woke two skeletons that the party then had to fight. After killing the skeleton the party realized that the door to the stronghold was locked, likely by the Grave Walkers casting a ritual inside. The party split with Mortimer looking into the East Room where a petrified woman in armor was having a ritual cast on her. Mortimer critically failed on stealth and alerted the cultists to the party being free.   At the same time, Lacrosse and Barack walked in into the West Room where Barack opened a chest and a skeleton trapped inside surprise attacked the two. The party fought both the cultists and the skeleton halting the ritual. As the cultists were killed, the door to the stronghold had the spell locking it broken allowing the party and rivals to leave.   End Date 2:7:784
