Session Twenty One

General Summary

Processing Hall

  • Siphon
  • Secondary Apparatuses
  • Leech-Points
  • Six students
  • Varvis
  • Six cultists
  • A seventh cultist - "Vellum" (Varvis recognized him) walks in nonchalantly, dismantles one of the largest spellstones from the central siphon, and flees down through a bedroom's secret door to a large room with five megaliths.
The DM really likes using megaliths and standing stones in her games.   Vellum uses a scarab-like device to "crack open" the spellstone, which ends up cracking the stone floor open, where mageflame erupts. Cheyanne extra-kills him with a potion of firebreath.   The swirling orb of mana seems to conenct to the mageflame erupting through cracks in the floor.   Harmony notices the wooden key from the dreaming centaur (insert name here) levitating itself out of her pack. Blackfin takes the key and walks toward the orb - the mageflame parting in his path. As he approaches the orb, it transforms. The tenuous connections of mageflame form a sort of spectral root, and the orb begins to stretch and grow upwards like a tall tree, until it arches into a doorway. The key unlocks the doorway, revealing another world beyond. Note the key resembles the levitating wood from Lew's workshop at Rainwood Hall.   Eaboreon, the tree of Knowledge. The branches, twigs and leaves all record lineages, ancestries, lives, etc.   Camrus. (even tho its not explicitly said, y'all can safely infer that Camrus is the god of Knowledge).
  • goes from dotty old man to AI monotone after Blackfin takes the key up to the Eaboreon's door and unlocks the tree, turning a knotted, gnarled tree into a fractal, crystallized tree that almost looks like a 3-D flowchart, or something.
  • The key then tranforms into a different material, also seen at Rainwood Hall - a sort of fiber-glass looking material, compressed layers of glass into a very strong but lightweight crystalline material.
Uhhh what other names were dropped...
  • Weaver: Adione
  • Lifestone: Bentarr
  • Gate: Itton
  • Wyld: Qhadira
  • Shield: Rodarr
  • Veil: Tabris
  • Revenant: Xorra
  • The Three Airs (above, between, and below): Eden, Matrix, Syxjia. Syxjia hid the Genesis Cube before the Great Silence fell.
  • Yena, the Starscale
Genesis Cube infodump insert info here.
  • According to established mortal lore from before the Great Silence, the Genesis Cube is believed to be a divine relic of the goddess of creation, a symbol of her power to shape and mold the world. It was said that the cube was used to bring order and life into existence, and its presence is a testament to her creative might.
  • mortal lore is not always correct.
  • the cube is a manifestation of chaotic forces, designed to alter the fundamental aspects of existence
  • powerful relic in the hands of mortals
  • apocalyptic power in the hands of "beings mortals call gods"
  • "There is no indication that Twilight should want the Genesis Cube."
"The Eaboreon has been closed for a long time."
  • does not know what/who Tyanzene is
  • does not know who the Silencer is
Camrus knows Fexnas as "Blight", Ghyta ("The Sight"), Viena ("Twilight"). (the DM did NOT intend to make a rhyme there, but that's kinda neat.)   "The Great Silence" is a term used to describe a long period of many battles between "beings which mortals call gods," "beings which mortals call giants," and mortals.   Note the Eaboreon itself could have grown a second trunk, but it was severed when the Great Silence fell.   Who is the Silencer? They came from the In-Between. The In-Between is the space between "beings which mortals call gods" - that is, the In-Between is the space between spaces such as the Eaboreon.   A boon from Camrus, for unlocking the Eaboreon: an introduction to a neat little floating pen. "This is your chronicler - may your deeds in this life crystallize your place in the Eaboreon."
