Session Eleven

General Summary

Our party arrives in Tarana on the afternoon of the 28th of Trail Moon (8).   Harmony Moonweaver ventures off alone (but with Moo for company) to visit a special site. Meanwhile, the rest of the party checks into the Lilac Inn in Blossomheart, booking a shared room from the leshy bartender, Persimmon Child, for the next few nights. After Lucor Briskbrand enjoys the fine food and wine the Inn provides, the four explore a little bit of the town, visiting the Emberlight Forge and, briefly, the Timberheart Gallery (Blackheart), as well as the Feylight Archives and Fernleaf Exlirs (Purpleheart). Within the Emberlight Forge, Vaurvan inquires to the forgemaster, a drow named Mavig Ezriat, about the blue embers and the possibility of commissioning a greataxe. Within Purpleheart, the firbolg shop attendant, Grenna, cheerfully provides them with an address for Calicrysta Byrch, conveniently also in Purpleheart. In the Feylight Archives, Captain Blackfin "Ice Heart" Thornside speaks with one librarian, an eladrin named Jarian, for information on the fortune he received about the Nightscream, as well as other soul-ferrying ship legends, to little avail, as these archives are geared toward more scholarly and academic pursuits, rather than the stuff of folklore and legend. However, he is helpfully re-routed to the libraries in Marthall and The Avail Academy.   The next day, on Ziv (1) of Bird Moon (9), the party ventures out to call on Calicrysta Byrch first thing in the morning. Lucor assists Harmony Moonweaver with dying her hair and painting some freckles to provide a decent disguise, inadvertently making her look like her older sister, Sedilia.   Upon arriving to Crysta Byrch's house, her servant, Tansy, a young half-elven girl, greets them at the door. Blackfin and Harmony both detected many magical signatures throughout the home, including some strong illusion magic on Tansy herself. A few party members also noticed a snowy owl perched further down in the hallway, recognized as Rue, the familiar of Crysta. Through some unlucky attempts at intimidating their way to see Tansy's mistress, Cheyanne "Doc" Adkins reveals that Fang, who commissioned the snake with a hundred mage hands, is dead. This seems to make a major change in Tansy's demeanor, and she reveals that she herself is Calicrysta Byrch in disguise to protect her interests. Once it is assured that Fang poses no threat of retaliation to Crysta, she forthcomingly tells the details of her commission and subsequent creation of Sage, the snake with a hundred mage hands. When Cheyanne asked about where to find featherwood, Crysta remembers some story about expert guides through The Everwood, with some cryptic clue about "walking the edge of the leaf."   Then, the party heads to Crownheart, and the Hall of Matrons, where Harmony requests an audience with the Council of Matrons on behalf of the party. They are scheduled for an audience on Vis (4) of Bird Moon (9).   Cheyanne receives a sending from Rhoda, "Koreen did NOT blow up anything important, just her nerves. Daisy spotted circle of hooded figures around big thing last night. Shots fired, hoods fled." Cheyanne responds "   On the party's way back to the Lilac Inn for some downtime, the party is stopped by a shout of "Sedilia!" behind them. Turning, Harmony recognizes her younger brother, Kilian Moonweaver, approaching them. Revealing her true identity, Kilian effuses joy that she has returned, but asks that she visit home immediately, "Mother found a letter from father, and now she won't stop sobbing!"   The party joins Harmony as she travels to Moonweaver House, for her first visit home in about eight years. There, she leads the party and Kilian to her mother's grove, a tree-top astronomer's tower, where they find Margot Moonweaver sobbing over her table. Although in the midst of grieving, she happily embraces Harmony and encourages her to read the letter she found in a secret drawer in her husband's workshop, Peren Moonweaver. The letter describes his pride in his children and his hope for their futures, as well as some coded messages that double down on Crysta's earlier clue to "walk the edge of the leaf."   The party investigates Peren's workshop, finding three magical bows, a magical set of leathers, as well as a small silver badge in the shape of an elven bow crossed with an arrow atop an oak leaf. Blackfin and Vaurvan recall seeing this symbol carved somewhere in Tarana, and Vaurvan recalls it on a lintel somewhere in Blossomheart.   The party now has two days of downtime before their audience with the Council of Matrons, and then one more day of downtime before Blackfin's field scribe, Ace, arrives to Tarana, on Yagi (6) of Bird Moon (9), and they can journey to find the Vault of Shadows. During this downtime, the party will spend some time crafting to move the runes between the three bows to best kit out Kilian for his apprenticeship as bowyer and ranger.
