Session Eight

General Summary

Continuing travel.   Thur (17) of Trail Moon (8):

• Concluding investigation of the "afflicted" bodies from last session. Determined that spellstones were growing from inside these people. The afflicted are not undead, but monstrosities of some sort. Harmony was able to harvest two volatile raw spellstones, secured in one of Cheyanne's bags of holding.
• Passed a sign and labeled passage leading to Ironlight Rothé Ranch.
• Snuck/ran past a troll's den.
• Passed through Deadwall Crevasse; Harmony sensed/found a hidden, long-forgotten, three-fold shrine. Was able to identify three deities depicted, but unfamiliar with two of them. The top depiction represented the afterlife or the aether (unknown deity), the middle one represented swirling mists of chaos (Matrix), and the lower one depicted the darkness of the depths (unknown deity). The shrine was still radiating consecrated ground, but clearly had been forgotten for a long time. Harmony left incense and a short prayer.
• A section of the tunnel was illuminated by a shaft of daylight (dimming due to evening hour), revealing a bright wall adorned with hundreds of red palm prints, the oldest of which nearly disappeared under their successors. Seeing a seemingly fresh bowl of red ochre, all but Vaurvan failed a wisdom saving throw and felt a compulsion to add their hand to the gallery. Vaurvan then felt compelled by peer pressure to do the same, and did.
• The East Passage entrance opens directly onto a cave-shaded courtyard of Salisson Grotto. The party chose to stay here tonight - Harmony generously paid for everyone's rooms and dinner.
• Met Salisson Grotto's proprietess, Asteria Roxrane, an older female elf.
• Met up again with Benevolence Grimdust, goblin traveling merchant and her dragonborn bodyguard, Vyth. Conducted a little business with the party. The party did NOT pimp Vaurvan out to her.
• A long, comfortable rest.

• After breakfast, Cheyanne helped Benevolence repair her wagon (2 hrs). Benevolence wouldn't accept Cheyanne's undercharge, so paid a full gold piece, but Cheyanne definitely earned brownie points in Benevolence's book. She's sure they'll all meet again, but Benevolence is off to Marthall probably.
• The party departed Salisson Grotto, heading for Rainwood Hall.

• A travel encounter with a mother bulette and two of her adolescent young.
