Session 6: The Raider Camp Report

General Summary

The party takes some time to rest and recover from their wounds. Lorilla repairs Tails. Tanaelia preformed funeral ceremonies for the fallen enemies. Rahl plops down into a deep sleep. Nivek starts a master stacking sculpture of healing potions and rocks onto the sleeping Rahl while Lorilla paints a bad mustache and glasses on Rahls face. After a short rest the party puts on the cultist's robes, making necessary alterations as needed to keep from tripping over them when necessary. Upon approaching the camp they found much celebrating. The raiders had set up their camp in a roughly horseshoe shaped hollow of a rocky plateau. Tanaelia and Mitzu got pulled off for meal prep. Nivek got pulled off for guard duty and made some friend and lost a bit of money playing cards with kobolds. They found out about that some of the loot is being stored in a cave as well as a nursery? in the cave. One of the leaders named Rezmir is a half black dragon and in charge of setting up the camp, planning the raid, and is apparently trying to hatch some dragons. Rahl made "friends" with a drunk lady named Rina who became quite infatuated with him. Lorilla life coached Rina into going to the guards asking for a promotion from the guards at the cave. The party debated on trying to rescue the prisoners or investigate the dragon eggs. Approaching the cave they saw the prisoner's area to the south, a tent guarded by four large guards each with a guard drake not allowing anyone near, and a cave guarded by several cultists and kobolds with their new friend Rina walking back with a crestfallen look on her face. The group decided to party until later. Rahl went off by himself to make some cultist friends. Jameak and Lorilla went off and had a talk about their mutual pasts, portraits posted in Waterdeep and roommates. Nivek, Mitzu, and Tanaelia went back to the guard tower to play cards with their new kobold friends. As the day went on the commotion wound down, the camp becoming calmer and better organized. Guards resumed their normal rounds, breaking up fights as needed and in general seeming more alert. Rahl was questioned by one of his new cultist friends about the drawings on his face, which led to him angrily splashing some ale on his face to wash it off. Lorilla taught Jameak about all of her nicknames and began teaching him thieves cant for rest of the evening. The party gathered back up and headed to the prisoners to try and free them. They had some trouble convincing the guards and getting past them initially, but Tanaelia was able to draw off one of them and Nivek to convince another to let him help replace the drawn off guard and to let Lorilla past to inspect the prisoners. Lorilla found the bound prisoners, including one separated from the rest who turned out to be the monk they were looking for. He looked worse for wear, but was pleased with the information he had been able to gather so far and reassured her that he would be fine and didn't need rescuing. About this time their luck ran out as someone in the party was recognized and a familiar blue half dragon showed up with his retinue. Nivek immediately cast hold person on him and the group attacked. The group did well initially, taking out all but two of the Kobolds and wounding Langdedrosa, and Lorilla got to try out her exploding flour bomb! Unfortunately by that point Jameak and Rahl were down and the rest of the camp was starting to come and check what was going on. Giving it up as a lost cause, Tanaelia begged Langdedrosa to not kill them, offering up herself but requesting to stabilize her wounded friends. She kept Jameak up and he healed Rahl then the party was bound and thrown into the prisoners' area with the other captives.
