Session 0 (Oloward/Bubbles): the Clown and the Acrobat

General Summary

The Eternal Order Monk Bubbles, on his journey to free souls in Hespial, has abandoned his job in the fighting pits of Vicastel to find wandering souls along the Way of Saints Melora and Avandra. As fog rolls in off the Southern Sea, Bubbles stumbles onto the Aldapal Moors and orcish barrow downs marked with the Eye of Gruumsh. Making to survey the area, he runs into 4 orcish skeletons. At that point, Oloward the Magnificent is just relieving himself against a cairn. Oloward gets knocked out by a skeleton for helping Bubbles and after the monk defeats the assailants, the hermit helps him in turn, taking him to his tower, a ramshackle hut surrounding a standing stone in a stone circle. When Bubbles tells Oloward he wants to get out of the moor, Oloward surprisingly announces he's going on a great quest, declaring Bubbles his sidekick.   The two make their way across the moorlands to the village of Utrei, where they find accommodation in the loft of Berardo Utreico in return for a fighting show by Bubbles. Bubbles also defeats a farmhand in hand-to-hand combat. Over mulled wine before bed, Berardo tells them about the reeve's suspicion of witchcraft, the death of Abbot Meloratus and the rumour that they'll be needing the bishop, and refers them to his nephew Basilico "Lico" Utreico, who is working in Ciatore's Commoditous Catch in Maremot.
