Session 8: Wizards of Wine Report

General Summary

After creating a ruckus during their fight with vampire spawn at the coffin shop, the town guard lockdown the area quickly in an attempt to keep what took place a secret. The party is sworn to secrecy and is suggested to keep themselves out of anymore trouble. The group return the bones of St. Andral to the church and discover they are the source of the Hallowed spell engulfing the church, creating a safe haven from creatures of the night. With the bones returned and the church safe, the group decides to attend to Urwin Martikov's request that they visit his families winery to determine the cause of the delay in their wine shipement before the Festival of the Burning Sun take splace without one of the few sources of joy Barovians have to look forward to.
The party make thier way along the Svalich road west, following Davains directions to his families winery. During their approach, a family intercepts the group some distance from the winery along the path. The party learnes that this is the Martikov family. The patriarch, Davian, exp,ains that the winery ahs been overun by druids who have sumoned strange tree creatures and have begun ransacking the winery after stealing a magical gem responsible for the fertile ground that grows the grape. This is the third and final gem to have been stolen, and without it, the family has no way to produce wine for the valley.
The group clears the winery of druids and blight creatures, while keeping one such druid alive to question. Bringing the druid back to the Martikovs camp, you uncover a Strahd worshiping sect not far from the winery where the seed gem was taken. Davian asks the group to return the gems so that they might produce wine for the valley, the only joy most Borovians can get. The group rested and began making their way to Yester Hill to confront the druids and return the first gem of three to the martikov familiy.
