Session 2: Death House Basement Report

General Summary

The group found themselves in the depths of a dungeon beneath the haunted house, uncovering a deadly cults hideout where they worship a grotesque shambling mound of flesh. Within the mound, the bodies of Gustav and Elizabeth Durst were gruesomely attached. While the spirits within the house demanded a sacrifice, quick thinking by the party led them to destroy the body of Gustav. Upon his death, the ritual within the Death House was complete. The house returned to normal, while the mound returned to its alcove awaiting the house's next guest,. Outside, the party found the fog has cleared and reveals dark building rows of a village. A black rose with a letter attached left at their feet. Safe for now, but left with more questions than answers, as to why they are here, where they are, and who Lord Strahd Von Zarovich is.
Before you, tall shapes loom out of the dense fog that surrounds everything. The muddy ground underfoot gives way to slick, wet cobblestones. The tall shapes become recognizable as village dwellings. The windows of each house stare out from pools of blackness. Further down the road, faint lights come from very few buildings, though smoke from a chimney above reaches your noses on the wind. No sound cuts the silence except for mournful sobbing that echoes through the streets from a distance.
