Rail Hook

Armor (Light)

Uncommon

Properties

Magnetism
Primary Effect

Activating the Rail Hook will cause the Magnetic components to Violently Pull the user towards the largest Metal Object it is currently pointed towards (within range). When activated, the User must make a CON save of 11 or Higher, failure results in taking 4 points of damage.
The Rail Hook will stick the user to the surface, holding them in place, until the Magnetism is de-activated.

Hook-Arms
Secondary Effect

The Hook-Arms of the Rail Hook are designed for a highspeed forwards & backwards motion. By pulling the safety bar within the Gauntlet and squeezing the throttle, the arms will begin to turn. The tighter you squeeze the faster they will turn, to a maximum of 60kph.
When on a Horizontal Surface, this can propel the user forward. By toggling a small lever within the Gauntlet, the motion will be thrown into reverse; both acting as the break & reverse gear. When on a Verticle Surface, this can be used to move Up & Down.
When revved, the Hook arms can also be used as a Mele Weapon, having the properties of: Light, Brawn.

Charges

Each activation of the Magnetisation Property drains (One) 1 Charge of Street-Urchin Infusions. The Rail Hook can hold a Maximum of 3 Charges at a time. Restoring the Charges costs 1 Action and a Vial of Street-Urchin Infusion. Vials of Street-Urchin Infusion can be purchased for 20 Gold (or Equivalent) per.

History

Wholstad Frigate's L.I.F.T rails weave throughout many of the city's districts, main roads and side alley's.
In 1971 a young woman thought it would be an absolutely cracking idea to be able to ride these rails and invented a device she called the "Rail Hook".
Wholstad Frigate heavily discouraged use of these due to the several dangers presented in thier use, mainly due to how the Rails were designed for Cargo and not people. Eventually, riding on the rails was criminalised (though not the device itself) and accidents involving the device decreased, though the device can still be seen in use sometimes.

In Wholstad, use of the device on the L.I.F.T Rail Network is prohibited and can result in a fine of 10 Buttons, if caught.

Description

The Rail Hook is a magnetised, handheld device with a tri-rotating "hook-arm" system that uses Street Urchin Infusions as fuel, it allowed the user to jump up to the L.I.F.T Rails and ride them.
The device uses a squeeze throttle housed within the Wooden Shell to control the speed at which the Hook-Arms rotate. A button is also housed within the device to enable & disable the magnetism.

The outside of the Railhook is similar in appearance to a Wooden Gauntlet with a small Silvery Metal housing above the wrist area & back of the palm. Vials of Street Urchin Infusions are inserted into the front, flat end of this housing.
This housing contains the mechanism which rotates & magnetises the arms, which reside on the outside left & right of the housing, connected via an axle to the interior mechanisms. When worn, the Rail Hook covers a user's Forearm & Hand; which unfortunately disables use of the hand it is worn on.
Several Metal bands wrap around the outer shell of the device, these (along with the Mechanisms Housing) are engraved beautifully.
