Shadowguard (Recharge 5–6). As a bonus action, the voidwalker can project a shimmering field of dark force. Until the start of its next turn, the next time an ally within 30 feet is targeted by an attack, the voidwalker becomes the new target instead and teleports instantly to that ally’s space (if unoccupied). The voidwalker must be within 60 feet of the ally. Consume Shadows (Recharge 6). While in total darkness or dim light, the voidwalker can concentrate for 1 round to absorb ambient shadow. At the end of its turn, it regains 20 (4d8 + 2) hit points. Taking damage during this round requires a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or the effect ends early.
Void Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 3) force damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or have disadvantage on attack rolls against anyone except the voidwalker until the end of its next turn. Tormenting Grasp. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 9 (2d4 + 3) psychic damage. The target sees flashes of its worst memories and must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be compelled to use its next action to attack the voidwalker.
Voidwalkers are not natural denizens of the world and rarely linger without purpose. When they do appear, it's often the result of corruption, summoning rituals, or dimensional instability. Consider these environments: Fel-tainted ruins or summoning circles Where warlocks or cultists have ritually summoned demonic servants. Twisting Nether incursions Cracks between dimensions—portals, rifts, or zones of chaotic planar energy. Dungeons tied to the Burning Legion or Void Think of corrupted libraries, dark cathedrals, or strongholds of forbidden magic. Shadow-aligned regions Ancient crypts, void-scarred wastelands, or moonless forests teetering between planes. Magical anomalies Areas where ley lines have ruptured, or time and space are frayed by arcane misuse. Underworld-like realms Sub-realms, dreamscapes, or abstract planes shaped by fear, memory, or entropy.
