Ring of Sound Storing
Ring
Uncommon
Description.
This delicate ring is crafted from Stern-silver. Set into the band is a tiny half-dome of thundermetal, engraved with intricate runes in precise concentric arcs. Etched into the inner band are two command words in Dwarvish:
"store" and
"unleash".
The thundermetal fragment augmented with runes, retains the vibrational memory of nearby sounds and magically captures them like an echo trapped in stone.
Function.
As an
action, you can speak the command word
"store" while wearing the ring. The thundermetal dome glows grey faintly, and the ring begins recording all ambient sounds within 100 feet for up to 15 seconds. This includes speech, movement, spells, and environmental noise, etc. The sound is stored in its raw, real-time form, meaning that loud, close noises are captured clearly while distant murmurs may be harder to discern.
You may speak the second command word
"unleash" as an action, to play the recording aloud. The playback is at normal volume and originates from the ring itself, replicating the environment as it was heard during the recording.
The ring can only hold
one recording at a time. If not played within
24 hours, the recording fades harmlessly.
