Buzz-Gnats

This swarm is the mutated form of the pre-War gnat. They thrive almost anywhere in the Dixieland Wastes where large enough pools of irradiated, or electrically charged, stagnant water exist. Due to some quirk of mutation or nature they are able to harness electric potential differences between the swarm's individual parts to create static bolts that are harmful only to others, not the swarm itself. The creatures have a horrid tendency to swarm an individuals face, and non-mutated versions of the gnats still exist, and compete enough in the gene-pool that Buzz-Gnats are rare, but much to the fear of a Wastelander who cannot tell them apart.
