The Rigotti BR-1 is one of the oldest surviving examples of an automatic rifle, and despite it being such an old design, it had numerous reproduction models built afterwards. It uses a gas-piston to operate its self-loading action and a lot of examples of the rifle are built from salvaged parts. Its reliability, like other weapons from this era, is pretty spotty at best. Most examples of this weapon survived the Cataclysm as makeshift copies and zip guns modeled after it.
