3-level Necromancy

Components: Verbal, Somatic, Material

The elderday necromancer chooses a pile of bones or a corpse of a CR1 creature within range. Initiating ancient petrifaction rites, this elderday spell imbues the target with a jagged animating force, sloughing off all flesh and fossilising the bones.   When Petrifaction is complete, a petrified undead skeleton imbued with elderday necromantic magic is created with the changes to its stas as follows:
  • Natural Armour 12 + proficiency bonus of necromancer
  • +4 Strength
  • +8 Constitution
  • -4 Intelligence and Charisma
  • No change to Dexterity or Wisdom
  • HD change to d12
  • Brute type - add additional die to damage types (e.g. d6 claw attack becomes a 2d6 claw attack)
  • Creature's type becomes undead
  • Alignment same as necromancer
  • Speed is unchanged
  • Lose any special abilities not listed below
  • Loses skill proficiencies and saving throw proficiencies
  • Gain constitution and strength saving throw proficiency (based on necromancer proficiency bonus)
  • Gain resistance to non-magical or non-adamantine bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage
  • Gain vulnerability to magical adamantine weapons and radiant damage
  • Gain immunity to poison and necromantic damage
  • Gain immunity to exhausted and poisoned conditions
  • Gain darkvision 60ft
  • Can't speak but understands the languages it knew in life and language of the necromancer
The creature is under the control of the necromancer 24 hours, after which it stops obeying any command given it. To maintain control of the creature for another 24 hours, the necromancer must sacrifice a spell slot of the original casting level before the current 24-hour period ends.   On each of the necromancers turns, ze can use an action to mentally command any creature made with the Petrifaction spell if the creatures are within 100" x proficiency bonus from the necromancer. If multiple creatures are controlled, any or all of them can be commanded at the same time, issuing the same command to each one. The necromancer can decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or it can be issued a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If no issues are commanded, the creature only defends itself or the necromancer against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the creature continues to follow it until its task is complete.   A necromancer can have under zis control a total number of creatures with CR equal to zis necromantic level.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the CR rating of the undead petrified skelton can be an additional 1 CR per spell level above 3rd.
