I am a disabled man who turned to creative writing during the pandemic. I had no idea what I was going to do other than using my lifelong passion for History as a starting point. I chose a relatively obscure time-period (1585-7) because I wanted the research to be as inspiring as imagining the story. I did not expect to compose a complete novel, let alone contemplate a series of novels, when I started this project. I believe this was beneficial as I put myself under no pressure and just wrote as a felt. Certainly I made plenty of mistakes but at no time did I feel that writing was a chore. It was, and remains, very enjoyable.
